So.... who's entered/entering? Remember its a best 3 out of 4 for the championship so even if you didn't enter round 1 you are still in with a chance of all the honors :D
  • Round 2 - Saturday 27th July - Clockwise
    Round 3 - Sunday 28th July - Anti-Clockwise
I'll be double entering the Impreza with Fee :lol:

I've once again forgot about this..

I have correct safety gear and license, would i require to get the car on a dyno and weighed to even think about entering ?

Alan (Caterham R500)

Pretty sure that you can just turn up Alan and that can be sorted out later.

As you have a standard car the power to weight is easy to work out, you will be in a 100hp band, and you can get a power run and corner weighting at Wallaces either before or after.

Alan,
Don't worry about weights, we can weigh you and the car on Friday afternoon or Saturday. You can then work out your class and if close, run the next one up or get a dyno run sorted out. I'm Chief Scrutineer for the event, so drop me a PM, or you'll find my mobile number on the Regs.

Be in touch soon, Alan.

Re: Weights and Power

Weight - if you best guess the cars weight + your weight that will do for the entry form. This can be checked FOC at Knockhill during scruitineering as Renny mentioned.
Power - For RWD power I would suggest taking 10-12% (feckit, 11% lol) off the flywheel figure. Easy-peasy if its a standard R500.

For book figures and a rough assumption that you are 85kg that would work out as

Weight: Car (506kg) + Driver (85kg) = 591kg
Power: Fly = 263bhp, aprox 235bhp at the wheels

PTW = 235/0.591 = 398bhp/ton

Oooooooff, right on the edge of Class A/B.

I'd opt for class A, but thats me. If you are lighter than 85kg it'll be A, if you are 110kg it'll be B :D

Try and get weighed with a small amount (2l or so) of fuel in the car.

Mine is the original R500 with the 'grenade' K Series which only puts out 230bhp (quoted), sooo

Estimated WHP = (0.88)230bhp = 202.4 BHP
Estimated Weight = 460kg + 77kg = 537kg

PTW = (202.4/537)1000 = 376.9bhp/ton.

I'll see if i can get it weighed with a dyno run at Wallace Performance, prefer to be all above board.

:thumbsup

Yeah, a great day. I was on form for the first practice with a 57.308 (57.26 vbox) making a new personal best. The nice cool, sunny, and calm condition helped . As the day went on I got a little slower and looking at the data it was mainly commitment down duffus and the braking zones that were to blame.

Chuffed with driver of the day trophy and third in class. Alan got second with some healthy 56's in his R500.

Watch on YouTube

jump to 7.02 to see Alan showing me how to brake for the hairpin!

Unfortunately some video issue for the first session and my PB :(
