Bunch of Scottish Hillclimbers from the C4 racing car class went down to Harewood (near Leeds) the other weekend, for some fun and to bring back the 'silver'ware . . . We took P1, 2 and 4 on Saturday (with me in P1) and P1->P4 on Sunday (I was P3 after being unable to repeat a great practice time in the afternoon - trying too hard) . . .

Video doesn't really do justice to how hard it is to get a really good run out of the car, lots of oversteer/understeer management going on here, but this was my best run . . .

Watch on YouTube

Some data from the data logger (a work in progress) . . .

Looked a dry day.................a tricky course in the wet?

Although I see some kind sod deposited the contents of their sump the full length of the course :D

:cheers

Heh, the oil only makes a difference if you believe it's there, or that's what you have to believe . . . Getting the power down and stopping in the wet is the problem, I don't have wets (don't use them enough to justify buying them or transporting them) so slicks or cut slicks it is, the spring rates on the car are too high for the wet really, but it works brilliantly in the dry, I haven't 'got' the wet in this car yet . . . I may soften the rear up over the winter . . .

The last corner is the crux of a good time, you need to let the wing drag and gradient slow the car then brake only enough to let the remaining energy in the car run it round the last corner . . . I'm not sure I'd change gear even if I had a paddle shift as it upsets the car and the barriers are unavoidable if you lose control . . . good fun ;-)
