Ye great day and hopefully the first of many so cheers to Dom for arranging the SE contingent. Well organised by the SSCC and great bunch of guys who put newbies like myself at ease.

For those at the day, managed to work out the smoke and thankfully nothing serious, under hard cornering the oil getting sloshed around inside the valve cover can go in the breather tube. By all accounts direct pipe from valve cover to intake on Evora for reducing emissions and found a few similar stories online about folk starting a run and heavy smoke on take off. Remedy is an oil catch can but only one specifically for Evora is made by radium and £300.... hmmm...

Anyway, cheers again for a great cheap day out!

Yea, it was a fun day out. I enjoyed slithering around - maybe too much as sideways was not the fastest. I need to work on my technique as autosolos are not quite the same as autotests!

Thanks to all those who made it along to compete! Well done to Lewis for the class win! :thumbsup (maybe I should not have pushed you to take part afterall  )

Also thanks to all who popped along for a blether - sorry that I did not get more tine to speak to peeps.

Sorry to those who did not make it due to mechanical issues.

There will be another three events in the new year - two at Kames and one back at Johnston. I'll post up details when known.

:cheers

Thanks for persuading me to play Dom, it was great fun. Nice to meet you all and Chris's emergency start in the Evora with all the smoke was quite impressive! A quick video from the day. Will definitely try to get to the next ones!

Great vid Lewis. Looks like good fun. How many runs did you get? Was it a rock up and run thing or were there time slots?

Well done on the class win too! :-D

Good to catch up with some folks and grab a chinwag. Very happy of heated gloves on the way home though.

Chris, that Evora didn't half sound the part - lovely motor :)

And well done Lewis - never got a chance to say hello when you were out the car.

Forgot to say, it was good to meet a few new faces and the sound from Chris's car once he started giving it some beans was awesome. 8)

I can sense a mini SE league starting to appear next year if this stays as popular. :thumbsup

Ferg- There were 3 courses. We got to do the first 2 courses 3 times and the final course twice. You have to complete your runs but you don't have specific time slots so you just wait in the queue, hand over your time card and then go for it. Quite a social event really.

Also worth mentioning, you drop your slowest time from each course; so your best two times are taken from 3 attempts at each course etc. Means you can make a mistake and get away with it - as long as you don't do it again  ... or if you set two decent times, then go try something different.

Having been enjoying the handbrake action a bit too much all day, on the last course, I went out on my first attempt, and did not use the handbrake, just tried to set a tidy clean run. Time was 62 Secs. Having done an okay time, for the second attempt, I could go at and handbrake and drift it lots, just have some fun!.. which I did,... and managed a time of 61 secs!  My point is that you get to try different approaches, have a laugh and still get be competitive!

More events to come next year! Looking forward to them. I have 4 old rear tyres that need a good send off!

Wee video of one of my runs, cheers to Lewis for uploading from his camera! Includes my altercation with a post :-)

Good to hear from the outside as highlights I was jerky on the throttle...happy with the noise of the car if not my driving :-)

Does sound great! I wonder if next time they could wrap the poles in foam pipe lagging as our plastic cars don't do come off so well if contact is made. Especially if there are more folk on here interested in coming out to play.

dodgy little video showing me using my usual digital right foot at the first bend.
There's a cheeky little handbrake at the end but I buggered it up and had to let off in order to make the finish box.

Good going!!!! :thumbsup
If I hadn't buggered up that final run I would have beaten Dom.

3rd in class for me. Chuffed with that. :D
