Brave, amazing man, and 70 is way too young. (Although someone pointed out to me earlier that making in 40+ years after being given the last rites is pretty impressive).

RIP.

Sad news. A remarkable man for his determination. Astounding that he was back racing only a few weeks after a near fatal accident a different mentality in those days, and his death is a loss to the establishment of F1.

Had the pleasure of meeting and chatting to him back in 2007. Spotted him in the Emirates lounge in Dubai when awaiting my connecting flight to Australia to go to the F1 GP. Had an Autosport on me and it had an article on Niki so wandered over and asked him to sign it. Slight apprehension as he had a bit of a reputation but couldn't have been nicer. Had a chat about Lauda Air amongst other things. Then when I got on the plane he was in the seat/booth right in front of me, so another chat mainly about the hype around Lewis Hamilton making his F1 debut.

Many people were saying Tiger's recent Major win was the greatest comeback in sporting history. I would say Niki's was a touch more impressive.

Sad loss.

Great insight there, Dickson.

Value of that Autosport just shot up a bit eh ;-)

Sad news. Has been good to see him around F1 the last few years and the significance and benefits of him being involved.
