Hamil7on
2p worth, pretty awesome TBH, stunning drive today, yeah best car xyz..........
7 x world champion, to equals this, looking at 2028 as a min
Max is quick and has the potential but too aggressive at times
Congrats to Ash Sutton in BTCC too, who’d have thought an Infiniti would be a great race car

Re: Hamil7on
For a time Lewis was well off the pace and it was really good to watch how the track positions changed throughout the race. Watching the drivers struggling for grip was hugely entertaining too and the inboard footage was good as you could really see how they were controlling the car.
Lewis was really emotional at the end and congratulations to him on winning seven world championships.
Steve.

Watched the race, Hamilton was no where till his tyres wore through to slicks and the track started to dry, without all the tread moving around he could manage the heat so essentially bagged most of the benefit of going to slicks without a stop. the mercs have so much pace in hand he didn’t have to push hard.

Re: Hamil7on
Not so sure about the pace, I think it was more a case of others slowing. He never ended up with fastest lap, that went to Norris, Lewis was 3 seconds slower with his fastest lap. Look at Bottas, even he had a faster lap than Hamilton. Wasn't the quickest but was the most consistent. Epic drive to win the championship. Verstappen might well be the heir apparent but he still has much to learn if he wants to win a championship and I am not sure he has it in him.rawsco wrote: ↑Mon Nov 16, 2020 3:28 pmWatched the race, Hamilton was no where till his tyres wore through to slicks and the track started to dry, without all the tread moving around he could manage the heat so essentially bagged most of the benefit of going to slicks without a stop. the mercs have so much pace in hand he didn’t have to push hard.

Good points Mike.
Maxy is young, feisty and increasingly experienced. Even Lewis made young gun mistakes in heat of the moment. I think the Flying Dutchman will make it big. In the right car, as ever!

Re: Hamil7on
It would be interesting to see how Lewis and Max would fare both driving for Mercedes-AMG.
A real test for Hamilton's abilities and speed.

Re: Hamil7on
Awesome drive. How many times did Bottas spin in sister car. Was it Niki Lauda that said to finish first you first must finish hence he never got involved in any first lap shenanigans. I think LH learnt a lot from Niki mentoring him. Stroll was pitted 2 laps too late by which time the drying track baked his intermediates whereas LH told his pit “don’t box me”, stayed out, and wore his inters into slicks.
Re: Hamil7on
Stroll's car was damaged, ran over some debris on track and damaged some important canards on his front wing/underside of the car which meant he lost front down force. I guess that's why he slipped back to Perez rather than Perez catching him.

Re: Hamil7on
Need to change the title to Sir Hamilton
I’m not the biggest Lewis fan but i do feel he is the best especially when he is motivated and confident which isn’t necessarily when winning. You can also see when he isn’t so happy and the moaning and down mood kicks in.
Last few Grand Prixs at various times though I feel Lewis has been impressive, on it and came out 1st when he easily could have been much further back

Re: Hamil7on
I have watched him since he started in F1 and over the years he has been petulant at times and his performance has been very mood dependent. Now though I think he is a lot more balanced, less susceptible to big variations in performance based on where his mind is at. All together a much more rounded, stable driver. It is going to make hime very hard to beat as he always seems to have a bit extra in the tank when needed. He has definitely matured and a lot less hot headed and more analytical.

Re: Hamil7on
Vettel and Alonso have also been very petulant at times and thrown their toys out the pram. Max did but has matured a lot but lets see if the petulance creeps back in when he is genuinely going for the title and he has a bad day.
I like Bottas but once again miles behind. Should Mercedes bite the bullet and sign Perez just in case LH quits in a year or two .

Re: Hamil7on
And even more importantly ... Williams should give George Russell a wee pass to sub in for Hammie at Merc for last 2 races. That would be quite something to end a tospsy turvy season.

Bottas will be sweating bullets that some N00b comes along and sends it onto pole in Hamilton’s super duper souped up merc
