Thre's a woman at work who uses her Nissan Micra to drive less than two miles to work in the morning, back home at lunchtime, then back to work again, and finally home at night whilst spending 10-20 minutes each time getting in and out of the car parks who would probably agree with this.
And I can think of at least half a dozen people who use their cars to drive to work when they could walk for twenty minutes or so, and I know that they don't use their cars for anything else in between ie. liftin', shiftin' or dropping the kids etc.
How many people like that are there in the world, and how do their emissions compare with all of motorsports?
I think Mr Journo is missing the source of the problem entirely...

The technology exists for cars to run on vegetable oil so if the earth is in such iminent danger why does the government not encourage the use of alternative fuels ?
I am all for protecting the enviroment from polution and needless destruction but I am yet to be convinced by the global warming argument . Could it be the natural heat cycle of the world ?
As for banning motorsport , lets ban football and golf as the thousands of people attending these events I would imagine burn more fuel flying and driving every week to watch.

As has already been proved if you are not a government official, media journo or misguided citizen and if you care to look, CO2 doesnt cause global warming, its the other way round.
This article is a complete waste of space. Dont bother even reading it.

Utter tosh!
Motorsport brings great technological advances, which filter down to main stream cars; improving safety, reliability, and therfore saving lives & the environment.
As demonstrated by the crash test dummy at the weekend, 180mph to nothing in a very short distance and drive yourself home the next day!Dominic wrote:Motorsport brings great technological advances, which filter down to main stream cars; improving safety, reliability, and therfore saving lives & the environment.
