I expect that some of the scratches would T-Cut out, but the damage just in front of the wheel is right through the paint. I expect a bumper re-spray will be the order of the day, but then again a full front clam respray might be recommended?? AS long as the work is done well, i'm not too bothered which route is chosen. :D

If you can avoid it all, don't either of you contact your insurers, i.e. better if the culprit stumps up for the repair.

Even though he admits liability, and your no-claims wouldn't be affected, come renewal you will be deemed a higher risk, pushing up your premium, and you'll have to declare it at each renewal for 3-5 years.

Could end up costing you 3-5 x £50-£100 in the long run.

Should match if they know what they are doing?
Who did the last job?
Or have I been sleeping and missed that?

Are you going to Stewart Roden for an estimate? If so, try to get a tour of the storage faciity 8) Never seen so many exotic cars in Scotland
Shoomer - went along this morning for an estimate at Stewart Roddens and wow what a place. There were loads of new Jag XK's lying around being stored for a dealership with no space. A stunning red Ferrari 550, a new Cayman, a few other 911's, a nice Merc CLK AMG, and under covers in one of the storage areas a few Astons and some other cars I couldn't quite see. A very impressive facility indeed and i noticed there were a few Scuderia Ecosse signs around - I assume that there must be some affiliation?? 8) 8) 8)

Also went to Steve Walker and Eastern Western for quotes which will be in the post next week.

Meatball - your car is apparently doing well at Steve Walkers (although I didn't see it!) :D

Scottydog - I would be minded not to claim through his insurance company for the very reason you mention, but depending on the cost of the repair (find out next week) he simply may not be able to afford it. Not much I can do on that front really. :(

All the quotes came in today and much more reasonable than expected. Eastern Western were £310, Steve Walker £320 and Stewart Rodden was £430. All I need to do now is convince my "collider" that he wants to avoid using his insurance company and also to stump up for a 1L hire car for a few days
