I wonder why people get so snobby about adding what in reality is an enhacement to the existing CD player?

gary.
Okay, for the flipside - 13000 miles is feck-all in the grand scheme of things mate. Please don't take this the wrong way, we just don't want to see another "I binned it" post - doesn't matter how sensible you claim to be, your post tone doesn't suggest it so far. Nannying? maybe - but we've seen owners who have lots of experience of quick cars bin Elises quickly, so we're rightly concerned about someone who has no experience of any car to speak of.

re the DVD player: We're not questioning that it's an upgrade - just the point of upgrading the unit in a car which must have some of the worst accoustics in Christendom and whose whole point is light weight - adding 100kg of ICE kinda misses the point by a country mile....

Honest views mate - that's all.

Problem you have is you are up against the reason people normally buy Elises is the raw driving experience. The ICE is the steering wheel and pedals....

My CD player gets used for long trips only when I remember the radio front!!

No, honestly Shug I take your point, but FFS - and I paraphrase" ... it needs to be a loud stereo because of the Stage 2..." Image

Words fail me.. at least pleasant ones anyway...

The money you would spend on that kind of facking stupid set up for a car that neither needs it nor would benefit from it would be FAR better off being spent on driver training or having a seriously fantastic blitz to Stelvio etc...

Can you imagine a better way of celebrating passing your test than taking your Stage 2'd 111r to Stelvio for a couple of weeks?????

I'll be farked if I can mate 8)

Have to agree and disagree.
I use my elise everyday, going to the golf (think morris minor - antiques road show), getting the shopping in and of course the daily trip to work and back I even took it to longstraton in Norfok and got an offer of a factory tour but on the day I had to head back. How much does that suck! but I digress whenever I am driving for fun's sake the stereo is off when i'm travelling somewhere or posing you need some tunes sat nav is nice but I have that in my phone.

Would have to agree that there is no point sticking more audio visual equipment in your car than your house as

Ill be shot down too - but I have a Pioneer Avix XC-1 fitted to my S2 Exige

List of features include: 7" flip out touch screen, Sat-Nav, Ipod connector, DVD player, TV Player (not hooked up in mine cause ariel is duff), PS2 connection (again not connected), DAB, G-Meter, MP3 player and a standard radio to boot. :)

The radio is still duff, but the improved head unit had a massive effect with the quality/ loudness of stuff coming out of the standard speakers. The unit cost me about £1600 a few years back (its been fitted to a couple of cars), and that included fitting. To fit to the Exige cost £150. There is an "external" box, which houses most of the goodies, and it fitted under the dash, behind the left hand speaker.

Ill be thought of as a bit of an nancy  , but I love listening to my tunes (with a Stage 2 you need something powerful), and I can also check my "G" when driving sideways at the track!! the sat nav is also a handy feature, and my wife has watched a caouple of movies when on long journeys.

DO IT!!
Sounds like a wicked setup :thumbsup
For the love of sweet Enola Gay.... what forum is this now??

Image Please get a life, or a modified Corsa.... Or how about you pass your test and find out what it's like to drive the thing rather than add more weight to it with pointless gadgets.. FFS

Sorry, but come on.. :rage
I know Ill get flamed, but I couldnt care less: - you sound like a total pr*ck, and I hope that I never ever have the displeasure of meeting you.

Ive been driving for 11 years now, so dont start all that sh*te with me. Im not going to justify to you if I can, or cannot drive my car like the best of them - but I bl**dy well enjoy it anyway. I wasnt going to throw away a perfectly good stereo when i got the Exige "just because it might wind some up on SE", and so i thought id fit it.

Grow up, and get a life. Can you not see that i wouldnt judge you for doing your thing, and buying what you want? - This guy asked for some real advice, and I could help. It was a minority call, and I came to his aid.

"FFS" as you so rightly said - take the elise shaped thumb out of your ar*se and let everyone enjoy their thing, the way that they want to. I was using SE for a bit of banter, and a real bit of advice - not to be berated and flamed by some illadviced c*ck who dosent know me from Joe.

I hope that "sense" prevails, and anyone reading the above realises that I have every bl**dy reason to be mad.

Rant over - but grow up.

I've met him, top bloke. If you get along to meets you'll be hard pushed to find anyone who isnt very friendly at all times.

Just thought it was worth mentioning.

Now where can I get some neons?

:thumbsup good rant.

Can we all now take a step back form the handbags please. It is his car he can do what he likes to it. I think the general consensus is clear but it is advice, nothing more, take it or leave it
:popcorn

I know my opinion on the matter and when I was younger I would have loved to have lots of spangly gadgets in my 205 XS (Feel the power!) but I couldn't afford them. Now I have got a bit older (Not grown up :P) I have bought a 924 instead
(That has a CD player, 4 seats and a boot too! :D Probably cost less than an in car DVD as well)

Please reconsider the DVD player option though, spend it on driver training or trackdays. However as I have stated this is my opinion, take it or leave it.

I do however reserve the right to take the mickey a little bit if you leave it though  If you want it, can afford it and can take a bit of ribbing for it, then do it. Its your car :thumbsup

Enough - sorry folks, got to lock this. Personal rants not allowed - Timmsky was a bit close to the mark, but it's just been stepped over by Anthony.

You wanna call someone a prick, do it in PM or to their face. Similarly, Iain, you should know better with the amount of time you've spent in SE.....
