Could need a solicitor
Re: Could need a solicitor
still in court this will be 3 years soon
Re: Could need a solicitor
Unbelievable - it should be possible to establish whether or not the dealer had the right to sell the vehicle without waiting for the outcome of the potential trial for theft of the vehicle or insurance fraud or whatever else ... I cannot believe that you have been without the car and the money for nearly 3 years - I'll bet you don't see a penny of compensation either

If this is the one accross from the Esso with the Tesco express then I've heard a few stories about the place during the last couple of months.

Re: Could need a solicitor

This is incredible. I can't believe this started 3 years ago (didn't realise when I started reading the thread that it was so old).
Really really hope you get something sorted soon, the way you've been treated is just as criminal as the car theft in the first place!

Syrely you'd be due some sort of compensation for being out of pocket and carless for 3 years?? This story really sucks and I really feel for you and hope you get back in the drivers seat soon..

shocked by this thread, i really had no idea how difficult it was to recover funds legally. They never tell you this sort of stuff on watchdog etc. Really feel for you mate, fingers crossed it gets sorted soon.
Re: Could need a solicitor
I would be camping outside the dealers with a placard telling customers they had shafted you. All right they have probably been caught out in this too, but they sold you the car so surely they have a responsibility to compensate you for your losses.
Hate to say it but if you do get the Elise back at any popint it will be like a barn find - unloved seized up and requiring further spend to get it roadworthy again.
I hpoe you get it sorted soon with a satisfactory resolution.

In the absence of anything so far via the courts/police/Sale of Goods act etc... Can you not go after the HPI company for compensation? You said that you & the dealer both had it HPI'd & it was clear.
If the Police had it marked as stolen on their computer, I thought HPI checks were meant to pick up on that (the whole point of an HPI surely)? The last HPI I did on a car came with some kind of monetary guarantee if the info turned out to be incorrect & I suffered because of it...
