Cracked disk

Twas not too difficult to see what was causing the vibration problem when braking.

This is happening too often with Gearys disks, Cowan had his changed because of warping, and I had to send one back as well for warping, though it was replaced free of charge.

When I need to replace them, I will see what Stu has up his sleeve now.

i also did one in the second race at silverstone which locked the wheel and spun me round 180. Geary now states that these discs arent suitable for more thasn 200bhp or for racing use. You have to buy the AP discs, or whatever stu has up his sleeve. STU????????????

Im using stus and have to say there pretty good, there not drilled which I think is a big weakness with the others. Havent had them on track yet but some very spirited (stupid) road driving which proved a problem before is not with these. Cheers Craig.

I can't imagine the rears will suffer that badly, whats the break split? 80/20 something like that? I assume they were on the front.

I am having major issue with my braking at the moment.

I have recently replaced the pads with Pagid RS-14s and when moderate braking from about 40mph I get a real clattering sound and vibration through the pedal. The sound is a scraping sound and slows when slowing so I am certain is related to rotation. It seems to be coming from the front left and makes a real noise in the cabin, almost like a metal wire being used to saw through a metal sheet.

I am using Stu's grooved discs which have been on for about a year and only tracked once. They have probably covered around 5000 gentl road miles.

Any ideas (sorry for thread hijack)?

it was a rear that snapped on mine.

Star cracks are quite common in the railway - we use a process call cold expansion to prevent it.

No, Stu's are vented but just not cross-drilled; grooved instead.

Grooved is the way forward.

Weird noises are pretty normal with rs14's - mine make funny crunchy whiney sounds when they've not been caned for a bit. Could be a stone in the pad? As a precaution i might be tempted to pop the pads out and give them a quick once over if it's really bad....
