Post by Gavin » Sun Mar 05, 2006 12:46 am

Picked up a puncture on my home from work on fri. Shreaded the tyre so had to get a recov to get home. Tried to get the tyre of today but no luck. Also the malfunction light came on, started flashing then appeared again and wont go away. Is this a major prob or what do i need to do???????

Do you have a cat replacement pipe? If you do then that could be the cause of the MIL light coming on. If not, you'll have to wait til someone who knows what they're talking about to answer the question

:welcome btw

Sorry,

It an 03 plate, 111s model, no mods and only has 13k on the clock.

The book says that the engine may have mis fired or something.

One guy stoped when i was at the side of the road and said the car may have went into a safemode?????????

any you guys heard or experienced that????

Cheers for your help

If it's FLASHING then don't drive it!

Some cars shut down into a kind of get-you-home safe mode when they detect a fault.

Could check the leads and plugs for water? Has it been sitting under a layer of snow or anything?

no its kept in an underground garage.

it was also running perfectly until i got the blow out. can a simple flat tyre trigger this????

i took me a few moments to realise i had a flat, the light stated flashing then stayed on permanently.

the engine started to make funny noises......

Gavin,

Slowly get in over to MMC (under 3k rpm) and get them to check it out with the scanner.
