I did their Hy-Performance day, 25 laps on the track on your own with an instructor. Good fun, reassured me I won't die instantly I go out on track, but would have been better wit some traffic (Fast and slow) to get more confidence on a real track day.
Still haven't got round to a proper trackday yet

Rich,
KH course is good; tho wont teach you much about over-limit handling; but you'll find a track day okay after that.. main thing is to then watch your mirrors (not too often) and indicate and get over for faster traffic but don't slow down too much and become a mobile chicance and if you're first into a turn then hold it through.. jump in m8 the water's fine..
KH course is how I started - not a bad place to start at that.

Guess it depends on what he's after... is it track driving or normal driving he wants a course on? Knockhill also do the course where they take you on public roads if that's what he's after.
If he does any of the 'driving experience' ones then as long as he's prepared to take it for what it is... a bit of fun only. It's not going to really give him a great insight in to a track day (apart from being shown the lines at a slower pace). I did the single seaters (before they were upgraded) and the Legends... it's fun, and I guess it's OK as a taster.
I sent an email to CarLimits a while back to see if it was possible to get a Walshy day up here... but without a venue, it's a non-starter.

I have no signature.
He wants a track experience, I'd heard a couple of the KH ones criticised and certainly our experience was poor, but I thought I'd see what folk's heres experience was.
Walshy is a god but I doubt John and his Zafira would really fit in...

what's your measure then of a poor driving experience..
it depends if you're after entertainment or how to drive fast on track, safely,, much will depend on the ards instructor you get.. both in terms of attitude and skill level.. and not jst in driving but in teaching..
I find you get back what you put in.. and I approached it with focus and went away happy.
will add from the folks who have been on his course - Walshy has a great rep and he's LOT/LOTRDC so can't be all bad..

I had Alan as my instructor on the day, very good and patient. Only nearly binned it twice
The only thing I wanted that I didn't get was to be shown a good lap or 2 by him. Though I totally understand why he didn't in a customers car!
If I was still up there then it would be an excellent intro thot the track but not to driving skills, it was all about the lines and braking points.
I nearly even made it to a track day after that too! But spent 2 hours in a field with the driver of a crashed VX220T.... About 1/2 mile from KH

My KH experience was the rally thing and it was poor because the cars are old and slow, the course is too tight and you aren't taught anything really. I've done another rally course and it was far superior.
Others have had experience of "driving experiences" which have been at best mediocre which is why I asked, I'm sure they approached there's with focus though!I find you get back what you put in.. and I approached it with focus and went away happy.![]()

Errm I suspect we are saying the same thing here but just to clarify. the Walshy course was very good, I've done it twice. But the mate I am asking for drives a Zafira and wants a track experience type thing rather than instruction in his own car.
Probably my own fault for not asking the question clearly enough...

I think if he brass necks it and asks for a slot with a named instructor then you would get a lot more out of it.
The podium marshal suggested this to me, and if I ever bother with a Hy Performace day I'll be asking for someone like Alan Brunton or Sandy Forrest.
