Can anyone please suggest any reliable (free? shareware?) programmes for converting avi files to wmv?
I am developing materials for work and im using embedded clips (with permission

) but they are avi and we would like wmv.
Ive been using freeware from EZ AVI to WMV Converter 3 (which was very good) but the 'free 12 conversions' offer has elapsed and i cant run the programme. Can i change the IP address from an office terminal? totally self taught IT skillzzzz on teh tinternet and pretty lame at that so - instructions for the hard of thinking appreciated.
yawn i know but any help mucho appraciatio.......less time at work more time driving

If you're doing it for work, and you like the functionality of EZ AVI to WMV converter then you could always take the radical step of paying for it!!
I used to use virtual dub for everything, but the guy that wrote it doesn't touch WMV for legal reasons.
Doesn't windows movie maker contain an import/export function?
Cheers,
Robin

I see your point with regards to paying for it, problem is, I have to account for it in my expenditure within the department and the cash handlers are a nightmare not to mention our IT guru.....much use as a bicycle for a fish. Its pennies but they are happy to spend alot on a big projects but im doing this for delivery for my clients Professional Development Awards, they believe that its 'niche' and 'subject specific'.
Just wondered, thanks for the suggestion though.

Just goes to show - the Windows movie maker has helped enormously. I didnt even know it was there (ignorance is bliss) and did I.T point my way in the dark - nope; so thanks for the reply.

Windows Movie Maker, free, does this. Just look on the file menu.
