I stopped reading it after a while, will probably get locked in a couple of pages.

A shame, the same comments could be made in turn about the London Olympics ie. Scots tax payers partially funding it but receiving no benefit. There were a few Scots having that very moan but not on the one sided scale of PH.
I, for one, was very pleased that London got it and well done to them.

Im afraid i will have to disagree on the recieve no benefit side of that. People will travel from all over the world to come to the olympics. I doubt they will spend all their holiday (atleast i hope they dont) in that dump they call London. Im confident the tourist industry in Scotland will benefit hugely from the games.

:D

I never said I agreed with the comment either, just highlighting that some have made it.

As it happens I stand to benefit, potentially hugely, from the London Olympics.

With the £billions likely to be spent on venues and construction work even if we (the company I work for) are not directly involved on the projects indirectly the market will see a shortage of firms and contractors nationwide for other big projects throughout the duration of the build up opening up possibilities for other profects that may not have come our direction otherwise.

I've seen the same arguements hundreds of times in response to BBC news/sports articles, YouTube videos etc and the comments from some of the English is often more vitriolic and racist than nationalist!

My wife is English... I thought she was going to get me a complete doing-in on holiday. Sat in the bar watching the England/Russia game before Scotland threw away their chances against Georgia.

I calmly turned to her to say that the penalty which had just been awarded to Russia was never a penalty (which it wasn't)... to find her grinning from ear to ear barely able to contain her glee.

The reason is not because she hates the English... if that was the case then she would hate her parents/siblings etc. No, the reason is because she hates the English media (which is a different animal entirely) and she quite likes it when they have to shut it and take a reality check. I've seen the exact same thing happen to her this year with Lewis Hamilton... it's not coz he's english (because she doesn't harbour the same resentment for Button or Davis)... it's purely to get the twats on our telly to just shut up and think for a minute before claiming that Jesus walks the earth again.
I have no signature.
