Quite funny - on the A71, one of the Car Sales Garages has closed down & taken all the plastic signage down.
Underneath, there is the old "Datsun, Sales & Service" painted signage.
When did Datsun change to Nissan?
early 80's?
David

Two negatives make a positive but only in Scotland do two positives make a negative - 'Aye right.'
S2 Exige
BMW 435d M Sport - 375bhp..... and stops now (big brakes!

Somewhere around 1982 -> 1986...
My dad used to have a Datsun Cherry in the late seventies / early eighties - One of the earliest family cars I can remember...Looked like this, but in red with a webasto roof...
Then my wee sister came along, so he chopped it in for a Morris Marina to accommodate his growing family...
Still think it was quite cool...But already rusty 26 years ago, so doubt it's still around...

It's still alive !
Go onto Autrotraders website - they now have a bit where they try & sell you the HPI.
Key in the Reg number & you get half of it....
GGN 689N is coming up.
DOR = 5/11/74
Last Keeper Change 6/8/2000
Previous keepers 2
If this info comes up, the car is still on the go.

I *think* it was 1983...
...reason I think that is when a student I had an A-reg Nissan-Datsun Cherry, ie. it had BOTH names on the back

'Nissan' rear badge, 'Datsun' hatchback trim edge.

[gushes] It was gold, with beige dash, seats and carpet. Like travelling in across between 70s Travelodge and Ratners.
