snow + R888s

Post by graeme » Mon Nov 19, 2007 11:52 am

Snow + R888s = one abandoned car.

Popped round to a friend's last night, and in the half-hour I was there a couple of inches of snow fell. Hilarity ensued on departure as I slithered around trying to get up the tiniest 1:1,000,000 incline...

Couldn't do it, and was in danger of slipping sideyways into the kerb, so reversed down the hill again. Got to the flat bit at the bottom of the slope and got stuck. Couldn't go forwards or backwards. The tyre-tread was clogged with snow and totally slick. Plan B was to just light the tyres up and let it slip sideways gently to the side of the road and left it there.

Got a lift home in his Disco feeling rather sheepish!

Shouldn't be that bad - did you drop the pressures?

I'm sure Ali C used his Exige in winter in Aberdeen and, afaik, it was on 48s.

I've been thinking about this over the weekend. Not sure how I'll get on with the 48's over winter so did a quick google and came up with these:
http://www.autosock.co.uk/

Has anyone used or heard of them? If you believe the sales pitch they'd be ideal and save any embarrasing moments - leave that for the BMW owners

Pretty sure he used the force, IIRC "Yeah dug it out of the snow the night before and then it snowed through the night then dug it out again in the morning to get to KH"

On the 911 over winter I use toyo snowproxis tyres and you would not believe the grip you get in snow and on ice. Snow is like driving on wet roads with 888's. Well worth the hassle of changing over. have got a spare set of wheels with them on mind
