Just dropped the Gear4 Houseparty III under £60. Decent quality and FM radio in it:

Also, if you're not too fussy about the docking (these just plug into the headphone socket) I'd look at the JBL Creatures - thumping sound quality, but not that portable:

Sadly, the micro doesn't really live up to the OnStage II - bit thin sounding in comparison, but a good deal cheaper. The micro is a bracket lower in quality in JBL's range.

Thanks folks,

Shug, I take it this is your domain? Is the shop yours?

This is for my daughter so you understand that when you say "thumping sounds" my blood runs cold at the thought. Its for her bedroom, needs to be compact (which is why I thought the micro one might be ok) but also of good quality and decent sound. Its a nano she has and I would rather have one that she can stand the nano in rather than plug into a lead. Also a remote would be preferred.

Anything in that criteria make you suggest anything else?

I'll be buying as soon as I'm happy with something.

Heh - it's all Andy's, but I manage the Glasgow shop.

The one I'd suggest would probably be the Houseparty above. Has a remote, isn't massive, docks the iPod and has a radio with alarm clock as an added extra. Sound quality won't be as good as the Onstage II, but it's RRP is £99 - the Micro isn't in the same league sadly, I was really disappointed when I got one in on the strength of it's big brother.

All in my very humble opinion, of course 8)
