Honda Elise for Sale

anyone fancy a fixer-upper?
Its with much regret that i put my pride and joy up for sale. Its hard for me to write this advert!

The car is amazing, very fast, the handling is sublime and evertime i use it it brings a massive smile to my face. A lot of people on here have seen the car or been out for passenger laps with me at various trackdays and can vouch for how good the car is.

Before I go into any detail i'll state why it is so cheap. At Rockinham on Sunday the engine started making a knocking noise, i stopped the car the second i heard the noise, but its suspected that the big ends have gone. The car was recovered from the AA and not been driven or started since. The engine still runs, and sounds fine at tick over, the knocking only occurs when lettting off the throttle, i.e. on overrun. I've not stripped it down, or even looked at the oil yet, the wife is too angry with it and me, and too be honest i really can't bear to look at what has happened myself. I've found a bear engine off a 55 plate car, low mileage for 1200, so worst case scenario the current engine can be binned and another put in.

I've spent a fortune getting the car to the stage it is now and just cannot bring myself to spend anymore on it.

If it doesn't sell at this price i'll fix it in the new year and see how i feel.

Very nice but even 12k is a bit pricey for a vehicle with what sounds like a destroyed Engine.

you guys are probably right, I don't have a clue about honda prices :)

feel bad for the guy spending all that cash and still having a non-runner.

I think it's one thing to install a conversion - as Craig will no doubt agree, it's hard work and there are a lot of pitfalls - once you've done a few it is no doubt easier - but to simply replace the engine doesn't require anything other than the usual level of expertise I think ...

Having said that, I would go there in any case - plenty more fun cars out there that don't require you to swap the engine before you can drive them :-)

Cheers,
Robin
