My 111s was written off as a class D for purely cosmetic damage just due to the price of new clams! That was 2 years ago, and obviously an older car but if I was in your situation then I think I'd be hoping for a total loss payout. I wouldn't want that repaired.

sh*t thing to happen mate, but at least you're ok! As long as you get a decent payment, you should try and turn it into a positive - you get to go car shopping again :) Your insurers will sting you with increased premiums and you'll lose NCB (if not protected) so you'd be better off with a replacement. Also, IMO repairs on such damage is never completely sorted with the odd scratch left here and there. Just enough clues for the eagle eyed out there to notice once you come to selling it!

Were you hard on the brake pedal when you hit whatever it is you hit? I suspect you have dislodged the pedal box. I pity the poor sucker that has to repair that!

It seems likely that besides the obvious clams+wheels+complete offside suspension it will also need a rear sub-frame (they are made of cheese and you are bound to have ovalised the lower rear suspension bolt hole), a new undertray.

Did it lose coolant on the road? If so add a radiator and front crash structure into the bargain.

Did the front clam shunt up to hit the screen (usually you get a crack up from the lower corners)?

Cheers,
Robin

was wet and pitch black so, again no idea, plus my thought processing was little fuddled by the time I got out of the car

don't think so - from what I can remmber I spun into the barrier hit the front first, then spun round and hit the back-end. Having said that it all happened so quick that it coulda been the other way round  :D

should hear from Admiral tomorrow... let battle commence!

Having looked at the pics. Start collecting dealer adds for price comparison, and be prepared to hold your ground with Admiral.

New Elise just in time for spring

Oh, and write down everthing you can remember about the incident ASAP.

Take a note of EVERY communication you have with Admiral. Who you spoke to, department, date, time and length on the phone.

They do record their phone calls, but if one of them tells you something contradictory to another, they tend not to be able to pinpoint that actual conversation on their system. Funny that

This probably won't help but i've just found out that Arnold Clark have taken over Ian Grieve stealership in Stirling.

Therefore it that is the recommended repairer (they do have a big bodyshop) they've at least had some experience in repairing VX's...................granted they didnt do a very good job of my rear clam but at least you know they won't point at the car and go "oooh pretty car" while drooling.
Focus ST estate, i3s and more pushbikes than strictly necessary.

....did i ever tell you about the Evora and VX220 i used to own?

From my experiences Craig, I have to agree it's probably a write-off. Sorry to see the car in that state but glad you're in one piece! Must have been some impact!
