Advice please: Jacking car on a gravel drive?

Post by Rory » Wed Dec 05, 2007 2:30 pm

Anyone done this?

I thought I could do it if I put a plank of wood under the jack (and maybe the opposite wheels)?

I'm moving to a house with gravel drive, and garage that is too narrow to use for changing wheels.

(Road outside is very cambered and on a blind bend, so not great for changing wheels either.)

Big bit of fairly thick OSB under the jack and also under and stands that your using should be fine.

I'd like to add a caveat - don't put anything attached to you under the car whilst on gravel

Be aware that nuts and bolts are actually small burrowing animals and as soon as they are set free on a gravel drive they immediately burrow down and can never be found again

To me, this reads like you have an entry planned, but it is so complex due to its impressiveness you need a year or two more before it's ready
