recently, reluctantly gave to a friend's son. Excellent fun.

My friend built a reporduction one about 6 months ago! The kit is fairly cheap from the website of wonderlandmodels in Edinburgh (and they will match their website prices instore if you take in a print out)
http://www.wonderlandmodels.com/
He's also just built the mega fun looking Tamiya Mini.
I recently bought a Gravel Hound (more recent 4WD Tamiya buggy) cos I wanted to built one and have my vintage Schumacher Bosscat still sitting around in working order. (again bought the kit from Wonderland)
I bought a fast charger and a couple of battery packs from
http://www.modelsport.co.uk/
and bought a handset (new, with 2 servos and receiver) on eBay for about 25 quid.
Not really used it much, but quite impressed with the performance of the Tamiya in a price vs. performance trade off compared to my old Bosscat.

I just picked up one of these
http://www.wonderlandmodels.com/118-Tam ... 65485.html for my girlfriend's wee boy for Xmas.
Its a mini 1/18th scale version of the Hornet (there are other retro models in the range too).
Was amazed at the quality of it for the size. Only tried it briefly in my flat to make sure it worked but seems quite powerfull and it was leaving black burnout skidmarks on my wood floors!

Oops!
Nice dinky little thing and a great xmas pressie for someone wanting to get into RC!
I got it for £99 including battery and charger from
http://www.goldstarstockists.com/

God that brings back memories ......
I used to race the 10th off roaders at stonehaven and then laterly i remember racing in Altens someplace near the fire station but that would have been back ...... mid 80s-89 ish. then as so often happens nights out booze and the ladies took up my free time.
Oh .... the list went something like ..... Kyosho Optima, PB Maxima and then finally a Schumacher cat all now spread out between my parents and our loft.
Loved the PB as it was such a simple set up and went like stink

I reckon we would have raced each other then.
I have video footage of a Scottish National in 1990 at the area behind the Firestation in Altens.
I also sadly enough dug out a copy of "Radio Race Car" from 1984.
This was when the Hornet and Grasshopper et al were brand new or just in the process of being released.
They were about £100+ back then too.
Makes me feel old.
