Any Wireless Gurus out there ?
After finally succeeding in restoring wireless access to my Netgear router for my work and wife's new laptops, is there a minimum security you would recommend.

Definatly, if you want to avoid people like me sniffing about your computer and using your internet connection! Extortionate hotel wifi prices can bring out the "resourcefullness" in people
For the wireless setup, you'll want the following:
1) WPA encryption turned on, or 128 bit WEP if the router doesnt support WPA. Without this, even monkeys with a laptop could do all sorts of stuff....
2) Hide the wireless SSID so people cant discover the network
3) Filter connections based on the hardware (MAC) address of the authorised computers.
If you do all of the above, you'll be secure enough
On the laptop, just make sure you've got the usual stuff done - not really wireless specific stuff but a firewall and anti-virus is a good place to start. Also, make sure you've got all the latest operating system updates applied - these are often overlooked and are one of the most important things in keeping you secure...
