New Year Woes

Post by Shug » Wed Jan 02, 2008 11:58 am

Well, not how I planned on spending New Year...

Did a house party in Troon, then out in the town to some pubs. All was good - had a decent time and didn't make an arse of myself - then....

About half one, we were leaving the pub, to go back to the house party and a barstool got knocked over - stright onto Elaine's big toe. Much squealing and blood (fecking sturdy barstools)

Got ice onto it straight away and she was adament she wasn't going to A&E just after the bells to sit with a collection of eejits with axes in their heads...

Back to party - she got some painkillers and got propped on sofa with foot raised - seemed not too bad. Hambo was with us, so drove us home (kind chap, who doesn't drink anyway!)

About 6am, I get a dig in the ribs - the pain has gone mental and she can't stand it any more. So, I go through to the spare room (where Hambo has crashed) and wake him up to drive us to hospital.

Place is empty, but it's supposedly been like the Somme in there, so lots of cubicles needing cleaned - delays things. After 3.5 hours we're back out, Elaine having had a hole burned in her toenail to let out the blood and had the toe splinted up. Gladly, she's not broken anything, but has buggered some ligaments.

Huge thanks to Hambo who drove us in and waited around for that 3.5 hours - sir, you are a star!

She's okay, hobbling about at home today while I'm in the shop. Felt a helluva lot better as soon as the blood was drained.

So, the year can really only improve from there!

Best wishes and Get Well Soon to Elaine.

When I worked at the footie clubs I probably drilled an average of about 1 big toenail every few weeks. Seemd like a useful tactic for a lumping centre-half to stamp their studs on the occasional wee forwards toe every now and again. Was great to see the blood squirt out. Ah..... job satisfaction

Bit of a bummer Shug, and I can more than imagine Elaine's pain, a bare foot life has led to a few incidents, though I usually came off the better, cept once with a snake.

Good excuse for her to put her feet up and carry on with the Xmas spirit.....

All the best

tut.

ps How is the barstool?
