A victory for terrorists
At least with the event cancelled I'll get to bed early instead of watching Eurosport.
What a nightmare for everyone involved. All that preparation and work for nothing.
It truly is a f**k*d up world.

Gutted about this. It's always a part of new year telly
I feel for the African countries and the privateers who might now have to pay all their sponsorship back, even though they've spent it. It would have been good if the organisers had run the Lisbon stages then cancelled it.

His BMW team was still sporting his name on the A pillar as sponsorship

Great shame, fantastic event. Wonder why the decision was taken at the 11th hour, when all teams/drivers/riders had already assembled etc?
....like already said, what a f***ed up world

The French tourists were only killed on the 24th Dec, so I suppose the governments would need a bit of head scratching to see if there was a plan B before committing to a decision.

Ah... I'd missed that detail.

What a bunch of pathetic organisers...............
The whole point of the war against terrorists is that you do not acknowledge their existence, their demands or allow them to disrupt society. Because that is exactly what they want, and although it can cost lives in the short term, there is no alternative.
Were the entrants asked if they wanted to cancel? Almost certainly not.
The average reply would have been "how are they going to catch us?"
As has already been pointed out, a victory for the terrorists, and a bitter taste for the rest of us.

I think for most of the bike nutters if you said "and this year there will be guys shooting at you with machine guns while you skim over a rock covered desert track at over 100mph" they would probably turn round and go

like it makes a difference
