Steve Brand's car is at ricky's (getting his HG fixed) but the bottom end is fecked.
Does anyone have a bottom end for sale? I'm sure he would take a full engine if the price was right?

"Here for a good time not a long time"
What's fecked with the bottom end? Is it pistons and liners or worse?
The bottom end from Lawrence's 1.8K is available, but it has forged pistons, so (a) it'll be a fair bit more expensive than a standard bottom end and (b) they only last 25-50K depending on (ab)use.
I have two bottom ends away getting fettled for 1.9K but neither of them is ready yet. Obviously you're talking a lot more money there.
Pretty sure there is a good medium-mileage VVC bottom end that Ali @SLS has - just off the 'phone to him and he's going to go check.
I also have one other bottom end which was working fine but has been out of the car for a long time and would need some TLC before fitting - it also needs the timing pulley replaced, but you could transplant that off the original engine. Ali's will be a better bet, assuming he can find it
Cheers,
Robin

Hahahaha,, NOPE!! But I'm sure it's all fixable with an engine transplant?? and a few bits n' bobs???
Mark
If it was a cheap way into elise ownership and a chance to join the gang may be worth it?? no??? Besides what he might need is something with a bit more power able to handle some abuse like a nice, freshly built Esprit?? hahahaha

Just spoke to Ricky. When Steve took his car in after the HGF, the cam cover was melted, so looks as if the engine was run very hot.
Ricky repaired it, had some compression when cold and managed to start it, but ran out as it got warm and stalled. So looks as if the bottom end is knackered.
The spec of his car is a 170+hp head job together with Emerald ECU, Jenvey throttle bodies, Hurricane inlet, vernier pulleys, etc, probably an EBD exhaust manifold, and a Janspeed exhaust. He also has a C/R box fitted, and his standard one is still there as well. ECU and T/B's he could esily sell for £900, C/R box around £350, Manifold and exhaust at least £250. So around £1500 in total.
Ricky and I reckon his best bet is to buy a used standard engine, with or without gearbox, there should be plenty around at the Honda convertors, I will give Rich a call, and sell it as a standard car, and probably make money on the swap as well.
Not sure what part Steve will take in this though.
