I am using wirless router for COD yes , I dont think its protected in anyway , the neighbours wouldnt dare use my broadband as I have had run ins with the police and I am hard.

I need to switch my router and modem on/off every so often as I lose my connection. REAL pain in the arse.

I use , NoAdware , Ad Aware, reg mechanic, windows defender, windows spyware tool and mcafee stingers.

Still cant get rid of this problem.

Router is links sys, all green lights.

Server times out in COD occasionally , but tonight its every game

Aah, fair game. Try a wired connection to rule out the wireless - that would be my first step....

You got encryption on the wireless network?

Set at the modem, by the ISP, using the MAC address of the modem to dictate what boot image the modem should get. The modem will listen to dhcp / bootp packets of the Wan AND Lan interfaces......

It's difficult to do, easy to get caught if you dont know what you're doing and illegal so i wouldn't recommend it....

But, i'd take your bet graeme ;)
I can see that would work, but I'd do it with a radius config and not have to manage the boot images as that would allow flexing without a reboot. Not sure of the topology of a cable network. I guess with all customer sitting in one address space that might allow 2 customers full-rate between each other if they didn't go through radius in which case you would need to limit at the CPE... *shrugs* Ah well, I was only going to bet 5p anyway.

Liked this thread, thought it worth checking at work as our broadband is very temperamental.

90kbps, outstanding (though was more like 3mB earlier).
if evolution don't take care of it, redesign it
