Best wishes to all affected

Lots of factors will have converged...but it is a reminder of the weaknesses of semi-slick tyres in poor weather. Not saying pure treads are always better, Pirelli P Zeros probably weren't!, but all the same be really careful out there not least with the flash rainfall we seem to be getting more of these days. On top of a rubbery road following a dry spell, that is recipe for, erm, well, there you see it.

Fingers crossed Steve W can make sense of all the bits, too good a car to lose!

Thanks All
I managed to get over to have a wee look before being called into work certainly not a pretty sight the only panel undamaged is the bonnet although there is still 1 X front Indicator and a read side/brake light as well as the rear fog light
Steve thinks its unlikly to be repaired although as Ali says stranger things have happened

From what I can see both front wheels are pointing in differant directions, the rear end is askew with the off side rear slightly out, the engine stayed where Craig had put it cheers M8 great engineering although the boot floor and bulkhead, alloy end fences have all moved and the exhaust after the collector part looks to be slightly out

So I guess its time to call the insurance company see what they say and either start looking for a shed to put everything onto or get a std Honda Elise to supercharge ~asuming of course that everything is still working in that department ~ the oil had drained out while she was lying on her side so I added 2 liters of 5W40 which was all I could find at the shell garage on the way over

Knowing what insurance cos are like these days I think they will go towards a write-off. Nothing to say you could not take the engine and put it in a new home the majority of Honda engines in Loti have already been through one crash....

Did you have an agreed value with the insurance co?

Still might impressive to see how well the passenger compartment stayed intact.

Sorry Hamish but after seeing the car outside Steve Walkers I cant imagine it not being written off :(

My vx was written off because it needed a front and rear clam, you car will need a whole lot more than that to repair

Hamish its definatly repairable just depend on what the insurance say. Proper reapair with new panels etc will exceed the cost of the car however second hand panels and parts from ebay you can do it much cheaper.

They hadnt actually had the car on the ramp to have a proper look underneath not easy with the front wheels pointing differant directions and unpowered since the oil had drained out of the engine. Craig I did suggest second hand panels to Steve when I first called him ~ got the impression that what you saved ended up getting spent on making them decent ~as you can see it needs everything except a bonnet which would cost more than a std shed with a goosed engine,

I am going to have front and rear clams and a roof for sale in the very near future (probably about 8 weeks) and they will be cheap, so bear that in mind if you get the option to buy the salvage back - you could easily re-clam it for under £1k front and rear - it just depends how much damage has been done to the chassis.

Thanks for all you're kind words, my g/f and I are both ok though her bruises get more vivid each day.

more embarrassed at losing it in the circumstances and surprised at the consequences, pleasantly surprised to walk away,
really should have bought a lottery ticket that night.

would have given anything not to have done that to the car nor to have had to make that call to bro, cheers for being so
understanding bro.

got a farmers wife with a gleem in her eye thinking I'm gonna stump up oodles of Loti repair money paying for a fence n hedge
round the field she's ignored these last 20 years rather than the 25yrds we flattened.

I am so sorry about the crash but am glad you got away with only a few bruises. I think the fact you got away with so little is worth more than a winning lottery ticket:D

I've got a couple of fence posts and some spare sarking that we could lob into the field if you like...maybe find a few left over nails in my toolbox too! Bl**dy vultures eh.

Keep on trucking.
