Puuling hair out

Post by DavieK » Thu Oct 09, 2008 11:50 pm

I've been looking for another Elise for a little while now and have recently posted a couple of "what do you think of this one" threads. I lost out on a 160 on ebay the other day, although I had the highest bid it was still 2k short of the asking price/reserve but this was past my limit and I was probably a little relieved that I didn’t get it  .

I'm at the point now that I think I should concentrate looking at 1 model .... 111s, sport135 or a standard.

there’s a sport 135 on Pistonheads looks a little scabby on the inside but that can be put up with and tarted up over time.

A nice 111s also on pistonheads and being the fanny that I am this one comes with a hard top :thumbsup

As for standard S1s this would just be a cost saving exercise over the above 2 and with the cash saved could be put towards a honda conversion in the distant future although looking that far ahead has never been my strong point

I dont know if trying to narrow down my choices is a good thing or a bad thing .......

anyway it's late, the wine is finished and the kids are bound to be up early tomorrow so I'll stop speaking gibberish !

That is a difficult one as each model has its own pluses and minuses and all of us on here have our own preference to either drive or look at or both and I guess that is what does it. Each engine type and size is subtly different. I would say keep looking & test driving and you will know when it feels right. Good luck :thumbsup

As for pulling your hair out speak to Dom about that one :damnfunny

Agreed on the pricing. I sold a titanium 111s with similar mileage and spec in the middle of summer for 8.5k - and I thought I'd done pretty well.

It does look good in black though.

the problem I'm having at the minute is that there are some nice cars out there but they all seem quite expencive for the moment .... other car prices dropping and the fact its getting later in the year. There are a few good ones pop up now and then condition/mods/price but you have to be bloody quick to get there. I'm pretty interested in the 135 that I mentioned at the top of the post but its the fact that the add says its in great condition in and out and then in the picture you see the seat is bust from the driver sliding in and out, so this makes me wonder what else is wrong with it that they are not being totally honest with. Not like i can just nip down to London or where ever for a quick look :?

*pulls some more hair out*

You worry if it doesn't have the scuff pad damage - happens to the most mollycoddled. Mine had damage at 9000 miles old, when I bought it and otherwise was 110% mint & on the money. The intervening 6 years just haven't been as kind
