If you head towards Ullapool there's an amazing gorge on the way there on the left hand side. Corrieshalloch Gorge it's called. One of the most amazing things I've seen in Scotland(if you're into that sort of thing
). Def. worth a look in my opinion.(and a great drive up there as well
)

Just re-read the link. It's 60 metres deep
(sheer both sides), and 10 metres across(although it seems narrower than that). Not the sort of stuff I'd usually expect in Scotland.

I wasn't that impressed with Skye (although I have lived up round those parts for 15 years). There's no trees. Then again if you're into hill walking the Cuillin's on Skye are supposed to be great for walking/climbing.
In fact, ignore my first bit (familiarity breeds contempt etc
). Skye's great. Good Beers and good whisky (Talisker 18....mmmmmm
)
And great scenery(although it's getting to Midge time of year
)
(And you don't have to pay £5.60 each way over the bridge any more
)
Never heard of Applecross tho.

Never heard of Applecross tho.
There is a good coastal path from Diabaig (wee bit north of App) to Redpoint, goes past Craig youth hostel.PhilA wrote:aye, most deffo into seeing that sorta thing!
got any good coastal paths, mountains to go up?
On Ben Eighe there are good mountain paths/trails up through the woods etc.
Also on Skye there is a great coastal path that takes you into the heart of the Cuilins without having to climb!

Yes, for scenery, Whisky, driving..PhilA wrote:Skye worth going to?
The Quirang in the north of Skye near Staffin is well worth exploring, also the area around Dunvegan and out to Neist Point lighthouse.
Anti-midge spray/cream.. Jungle Formula or similar stuff. A sleeping mat may be usefull. If you're in a campsite with 'facilities' then as long as your not wanting to do your own cooking then you shouldn't need much else..PhilA wrote:What do i need for camping? never been before!
Got a tend and sleeping bag and a torch...
