Elise S1 Geo required in Aberdeenshire

Post by alcabs » Sat Jan 24, 2009 12:52 pm

Guys,

Not posted on herein a while but recall a Mark from Banchory was the recommended person to go and see with your Elise if you wanted geometry work done.

Well, doing a search on the forum I cannot find much info on him and his website does not appear to work anymore. What happened?

Do any of you have contact details for this guy or is there someone else locally you would recommend.

Cheers for any info :thumbsup ,

Al.

If its just tracking and camber, why not have a go yourself? If your looking at doing corner weighting (you obviously need springs with adjustable platforms) you will need someone with scales in which case there is a guy out beside banchory can do the lot for you and charges around £80. His name is Graeme Wight, search through Ali Croziers posts and you will find a thread on him. For DIY, theres a really good guide on the wiki on seloc, if your still not sure give me a shout and I can give you a hand, cheers Craig.

Guys,

Thanks for the leads on this. The two names you mention are known to me.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't that the Graeme Wight that owns or used to own the Ploughman Pub in Culter??? Used to drink there regularly a few years ago. His son was into racing (or rallying) bigtime a few years back and had some sort of horrendous accident - broke his neck or something. I am pretty sure I know where his house is. Didn't know he was offering services like this.

And old Ricky Gauld. God he must be near retirement by now. I used to take my cars to him way back when he was based in Blackburn and then when he moved out to Forgue near Huntly I still drove all that way out for servicing, MOT's etc. but it was just too far. (He also had a real bad habit of not getting the job done that quickly so your car would be out there for weeks!) Mind you, he really knows his stuff.
So Ricky has moved back into Aberdeen. Is this the place he is working at? -

Hmmm...looks pricy.

Craig - the 135 is still running strong. Just been MOT'd a few weeks back. Emissions are always marginal! It has 65,000 miles on the clock and I still use it for work every day. However, I think it is due another visit to the garage asap as I suspect it has a dodgy wheel bearing. There is this whirling noise that has recently surfaced over the last couple of weeks that you hear after a few minutes of driving. Hope its just a wheel bearing and not something in the gearbox! Doesn't seem to slow the car down though and it does not seem to be getting much worse. Just more noticable. The car is so damn noisy anyway it took a while for me to hear it! Glad you sold the car to me with the hardtop. That has been a godsend through the last couple of winters. :thumbsup

His son, Graeme Wight Jnr, multiple British Hillclimb champion - he's probably worked behind the bar! ;)

May be a bit busy for this now with his electric BRM...

Glad its still going strong it is a great car. Am sure I had the front 2 replaced when I had it.. When the guy at the garage spun the wheels it was very loud but I hadn't heard it due to the noise of the car. Hope that's all it is...
