Coach House no more......................

Post by Mikie711 » Thu Feb 26, 2009 7:39 pm

For those of you in and around Aberdeen Mr Gauld no longer works at Coach House. The garage has shut up shop due to the untimely death of the owner. Ricky's is back working form home.

Good news for some if it means he is back to business as used to be, but I suspect a blow for Ricky.

Wonder if he could buy the R/R at a knock down price and install it at home?

I know he would love to get his hands on that RR and it will be up for sale when the administrators sell off the assets if a buyer can't be found. wouldn't imaging it would be cheap though even second hand !!. It is a shame as they had a really good set up in the making.............

Could not get hold of him last night so may take a run up to see him today if it is dry. Mark was going to do a fair amount of work on N3 before he packed in. All eight ball joints, all Nylatron wishbone bushes, uprated anti roll bar, smaller S/C pulley, larger crankshaft pulley, possible re-map, etc.

However now that Ricky is back in business, looks like it is back to old times.

Just spoke to Ricky, and he seems happy enough, and is already pretty busy.

The owner of Coachhouse was only 47, working on his computer at he beginning of the month, and had a massive brain haemorrhage. Although the servicing side was going well, and they had the Ducatti agency, the cars were not selling very well, so the Bank pulled his overdraft.

My office is just across the car park from Coach House and I found out about three weeks ago.
The lads in the office here have been using it regularly and have been well chuffed with Ricky and co and the service in general.

Also have a large bike fraternity here that had arranged a 'session' and bbq, now well gutted.
Word is the bike fraternity may be trying to set up a deal to open up again on what basis I don't know, still early days.

I also spoke to Ricky early in the week he confirmed he is open for business.

The owner was the sole investor, just really dissappointing that they (the banks) never gave anyone a chance at giving it a go, sign of the times I suppose.

I'll keep you posted if I hear anymore :thumbsup

All I will say is - £670 for a standard service last summer, and they had my car for 6 weeks because they were "busy". My thoughts on CH are well known here.

Glad to hear that Ricky is back in business for himself.

Im extremely sorry to hear that the owner has unfortunately passed away - but I will never ever forget his arrogance when I tried to complain about the cost and time associated with my service. My condolenses go out to his family - but personally, I didnt like his business attitude at all, and I wouldnt have used him again this year anyway.

Shame about the Coach house owner, but good to hear RG is still on the go! :thumbsup

It does go to show what a large hole Mr Gauld is going to leave when he does eventually retire. The coach house thing was unfortunate not least for the family. Given the current climate it's no surprise the bank didn't fancy extending there overdraft even though the administrators could see the potential. car leasing was doing the best followed by the garage, the bikes was new addition and not up and running properly. Butthey had lashed out on a lot of new cars and equipment and with crushing rent and rates to pay (i couldn't believe how much it was) it's going to be a brave soul that takes it on in it's present state.
