ASK FOR CASH ! DO NOT ACCEPT A CHEQUE IF ITS SLIGHTLY DODGY .

Take them to their branch nearest to you and get cash . Who in their right mind gives a complete stranger a cheque for a car they have not seen . It MUST be a scam . Paranoid faction .

Thanks Stewart and Neil for your reply's i will be contacting my m8 over the road who is CID and inform him of what's going on.If this is a scam will try my best to help get them caught... I hate this kind of thing... If the cheque does clear will put it into a high interest account and leave it there until we get to the bottom of it all. :D

Cheers Kirk

If they sent you the cheque without agreeing terms surely they haven't achieved anything? Take their interest (as low as it is at the mo') as long as the cheque stays in your account. If someone else (i.e. the actual cheque book holder  ) cancels the cheque then so be it. DO NOT send them money...

Never know though - may just be terrible at buying from classifieds

I confess to wasting a lot of time reading the 419 scams...unbelievable! Great fun but presumably also a dangerous game to engage in.

Ta for posting.

Great website, eh? To be fair only dangerous if you are stupid enough to send Nigerian scammers your money. Otherwise, just comedy :D

Stay well clear mate, cheques aren't worth the paper they're written on, even if it appears to have cleared in your account. 2-3 months down the line, after you've sent away your car, the bank could turn round and say "this cheque is a fake" and take the money back off you, leaving you out of pocket and Lotusless!<--is that a word??:-)
