Getting tyres fitted.

Does anyone know of anywhere in Glasgow/Hamilton area that can supply and fit A048? Fed up having to go through to Edinburgh every time plus they dont have any tyres at the mo.

Just out of interest how much would 4 brake pads supplied and fitted likely to cost?

Cant help you on the tyres (ed might be able to) but I bought EBC greenstuffs for my Exige and fitted them myself, cost was under £100 from Pistons and components on Gt Western Rd.

Ive gone the pagids route for pads and they are awesome, got a full set for £218 i think it was from eliseparts.com. si has sbs which also come with good reviews but not so pricey. greenstuffs come in cheaper still, depends really on how much track work you do.

with regards tyres, plans will deliver straight to you for around £125 for fronts and £152 ish for rears. do a search for plans motorsport and you will get their details. mmc charged me around £360 for two rears fitted :(

I know people reccommend pagids and more expensive pads but I have found the greenstuffs good for me on the one trackday and road use that they have had since I fitted them. P&C also stock them which was handy for me as I was down to the metal, and fitting is easy.

Pagids are best.
SBS which I also have are similiar I believe.
Greenstuff I ditched. Awful.
JJ may like them on track but he was never braking above 40mph... :wink:

MMC wanted £370 for 2 rears fitted when they eventually get stock which they have no idea when that will be. Then the cost of their service + pads!!!

Cheers for all the help, could have saved me a few quid.

as said above. get tyres delivered, then take them to a kwic fit to fit for a tenner.

pads, make a choice, get them delivered (at same time as tyres to save delivery) then fit yourself, its really easy. someone will help you on here if you get stuck

I found MMC to be cheapest for 48s.
You can fit pads yourself. I just changed a full set for the first time and it was straight forward.

I brake above 40mph though..... C'mon, outbrake me at the next TD, I dare ya ;)

If you can spare the money for Pagids then go for them, but Greens are a decent budget option. Certainly, if they are bedded properly there's no real issues with them, until you're going much faster than G can :P :lol:

Shug, meant to ask earlier. When I led a couple of miles on the MT route, is my exhaust loud?
I find it quiet, yours seemed much louder.

Cheap tyre + wheel refurb > mmc tyres.

It's nice & rorty as I remember. Pretty deep, bassy sound - not too raspy. I dont know what mine sounds like from the outside so I couldn't compare - but yours is *much* quieter than Scott D's, for example.

Would never call it quiet in the grand scheme of things though. 8)
