Those are already heading up in price now though.

I'd love a Toyota Corolla AE86, more so the Japanese Toyota Sprinter Trueno :love

but 8k+ for a rusty old 1.6 twin cam toyota.... not so much.

Here's my tuppence:

Ford Puma Racing - admitedly the 1.7 standard Puma was better value but their exlusivity should secure a premium in the future.
Mitsubishi Evo IX FQ-400
Subaru Impretza Richard Burns
Renault Clio Trophy
Renault Megane R26

These are classics already.....
Mk2 Escort RS2000 Custom
Mk1 Escort too - probably any RS model.
White with the blue stripe.....

Modern Cars........
I reckon the BMW M3 CSL will be up there.
(The E30 M3 is a classic already - some selling for 25k+)

What about the Renault 5 GT Turbo?
The old shape early 80's one - wide bodied thing costs a fortune to buy
and the Renault GTA V6 Turbo.?
this was the alternative to the Sierra Cosworth back in 1986

my 2p.....

S2 Exige
BMW 435d M Sport - 375bhp..... and stops now (big brakes!😁)
Work Horse - Ford Transit - Full of crap spec....... 170bhp one :-)

A red Mk2 Golf GTI

A Merc 190 Cosworth

A 993 Turbo

Agree with the 993, maybe a C4S? plus a 340R & CSL

Problem is the word investment all of these cars mentioned would required a lot of TLC as they get past the 10-15 years old mark. I think you could potentially you could get an appreciating car but not so sure you could actually make money out of them.

Can't believe no-one has posted the most obvious candidate yet

Il monstro :love

I'd also add in another leftfield choice
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1073014.htm
Focus ST estate, i3s and more pushbikes than strictly necessary.

....did i ever tell you about the Evora and VX220 i used to own?

It is quite a thought that had I bought a 964RS when I got my Exige, I could have driven it for the last 4 years, and sell it on now for probably a 10k profit  As with all investments very hard to predict of course.

I reckon good investment cars need to be a) rare, and b) genuinely good cars. Take the Exige S1 and S2- both great cars, and as an all round package the S2 is a better (sorry, but it is), but the S1 will always have more investment potential as it was built in relatively tiny numbers. I could see the 2-11 doing well long term. Very rare, and just the kind of off-beat, covetable wheels collectors like to have in their garage.
