Re: COD MW2 [NLC]
I had the RROD on mine about last year.
I left it a few days and unplugged power supply then started it up again and has been fine ever since.
My bro in law also had it a number of times and he swears that its somethoing to do with the power pack as he managed to simulate it on demand using a 2nd power pack.
Try it again before sending away.

Go onto support.xbox.com and register you console if you have not already done so by entering the serial number. You can then see if it is in warranty.renmure wrote:Argh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tbh, it sounds like a fault box as a drive failure after 4 months is terrible BUT may be better for you as the drive failure is only covered under the initial warranty, not the extended red ring thing! Out of curiosity, is your 360 horizontal or vertical?s29ttc wrote:Sadly my Xbox has died at a little over 4 months months old. Decided not to read discs anymore so sadly not be able to play just as I was getting into MW2 nice!
Just trying to organise to get it sent off and repaired BOLLOCKS 2-3 weeks
The drive on my original failed after maybe 2-3 years I reckon so i'm on my 2nd...
If you've got the HDD space, maybe worth installing games you'll play a lot to preserve the drive.

My Xbox is about 2 years old.
Help.. what do I do to get it fixed? Should I have kept the receipt?
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!
From here you can schedule a repair, pretty sure you can repair whether in warrenty or not this way, only thing different is the cost obviously.
My console, only just over 4 month old, was still under warrenty so I got an invoice for £0.00 and sent a UPS label. I packaged my xbox and took it tio my nearest UPS office. The other alternative is to arrange a pick up.
Seems all relatively straight forward but not sure how it would go outwith the warranty. I do know they have an extended warrenty for this ring sting thing. My warranty does not expire until 8/11/10 but not sure if that is the american way of putting the date but anyways....
Hope this helps

Not sure of the red ring status of newer consoles, but my original 360 was repaired for free out of warranty. Must have been about 2 years old. Their turnover was approx. 5 days (this was a few years ago)
A friend of mine had the RROD and had the same service about 6 months later (his being the same age as mine, so by then 2 1/2 years) then had the RROD again 2 days after he got it back and was still sorted within a fortnight (ie 2 console repairs in 2 weeks inc. shipping)
If you sound like (ie in any way Scottish...) try to do as much as you can online as their call centre is on the Deli side of the UK. I was once on to the support line for 30+ minutes trying to find out if they'd sent me my data transfer kit (for moving all your save games from 1 HDD to another).
After 20 minutes, the woman finally caught on that I wasn't trying to order a 2nd kit and was only wondering why it had taken more than a month to arrive!
Some people have had luck with leaving the xbox for a couple of days / wrapping it in towels etc, and a collegue managed to open his up and reseat the cpu with a kit from eBay (though his box was erm, out of warranty anyway) but the RROD can represent a number of issues so no guarantees.
Personally, at 2 years old, i'd see if they will still do a free repair and get it sent off before screwing around with temporary fixes that might last 3 weeks...

Re: COD MW2 [NLC]
Oh well... went on to xbox support and registered it.
Seems I am out of Warranty but within the Extended Warrarnt period for the RROD fault.
UPS Labels arrived by email and it looks like it is being collected and taken to Frankfurt to be fixed.
Was almost tempted just to let the wee pc/game consol repair shop in Dundee who offer a 1hr turn around fix it for £30 .. but will use the £30 to get a PS3 copy of the game today and get killed by different people online tonight!!

Re: COD MW2 [NLC]
Errm one could trial the pc version. Probably visiting a popular pirate torrent site could find you a copy.a4drk wrote:I've not decided yet whether to buy this for the PS3 or the PC.
The PC is easier to use, but more people i know have it on the PS3
anyone on here got it for the PC?
David
It would probably take you about 12 hours to download and about 4-5 hours to complete the game on regular. You would probably find there is no multiplayer support though.
Guess what I did last night and this morning.
