Seemed to manage ok without it in the old days - a 500 bhp car deserved respect - it's almost a meaningless figure now. TC should not be used to cover up an undrivable car. If you can't keep it out of the hedge with no electroinic aids, then the chassis engineers need a slap.GregR wrote:balls to the pair of you - the MSc referred to is pressing the 'M' button on the wheel.
Sheesh - oldies...![]()
best of luck to you unleashing 500 horses without the TC on too
Does the M button switch off everything? I'd doubt it - the lawyers would insist on having some form of (lighter) TC and ESP active until you purposefully switch them off (with accompanying nanny-state warnings)
It's all about advertising and willy waving - like the current raft of AMG's that have planet shifting torque (until you delve into the specs and find out that they limit power in the lower gears to avoid killing gearboxes) What's the point? Selling cars to knobs.....
It's just lazy engineering. Make it simple, light and powerful, then make it handle without electronic interference - then put on (switchable) TC & ESP to reign in excesses.
