Photos from the past

Post by jen » Wed Apr 07, 2010 7:05 pm

I have been having a wee clear out whilst on school holidays, and decided last night to sort out all our photographs. I came across a set of photos which were taken the first time Alan and I had ever been to Knockhill.

He had just built his Westfield, and it was an evening event (may have been a Thursday). Iv worked it out that it must have been in July or August 2004. It started off dry but some time into the event, the heavens opened and we all got soaked!! Alan hit the white stuff, spun and ended up stuck in the mud!! So everyone had to come off track so the steward people could lift him out. Obviously I was getting a bit worried when everyone except Alan came back into the pit, so I went round like a headless chicken asking everyone what happened but nobody seemed too bothered!! Anyway, no harm done (except the people lifting the Westfield out pulled the roll bar loose!  ) and back on track and back home in one piece, albeit a bit sodden!

Anyway, thats my little story of the evening that was my first trackday, and I never thought I would tell you all the story until I found these pics. Turns out there are a few SE'ers in these pics and was just wondering if I had captured (badly) anyone else? Are you in these pics? Or do any of you know who the other drivers are?

The blue Honda CRX is a mate of Alans. Alans Westfield isnt even in any of the pics - Oops! :blackeye
Iv already spotted Ali C and Mac too! :thumbsup

:cheers

Jen

Jen,

The green 7 is Kayfur (Kevin) - the other blue S2 that you have a picture off, I'm afraid we can't tell you who the driver is/was.

Sorry

Cool :thumbsup

Would like to find a current day pic of Duffus taken from the same point, the old one really shows how tight it used to be before they widened it.

That other blue S2 looks like it might have a Stelvio sticker on the door.... Iain being hunted by Giles ??

It might also be me in the Mac Pax seat too...

Nice find Jen!!

Dave,

Your a moron :D Both photo's are of my car - just one from the rear with the track plate and one from the front with the regular plate.

There's no way Jen would have been able to tell - but how many times have you seen my car????

I'm using a netbook and it cut the picture down so that I couldn't see the cars that were coming out of MacIntyres. I agree that it looks like a Stelvio sticker so that must make it Iain Watt's car

Yup - that was our first Westy. 1800 Sport built from a full kit in 2003, and traded back to the factory for a Megabusa in 2006. I believe they sold it to someone in London. Good to see a photo of it in its prime.....

We spoke on the day, I believe you and your wife were driving. You gave me your email address so that I could forward on the pictures, I must have wrote the address down wrong as I couldn't get them to send.

Finally got your pictures, 6 years later. It's a very small world.

I owned a Red Westfield at the time but when me and Jen moved up to Aberdeen I had to sell it so that we could buy a house. When we got to Aberdeen and after a bit of saving I bought an S1 Elise. Which we still have, although a completly different car now.

Cheers

Small world indeed. Myself and the other half (although still the girlfriend rather than the wife...) used to share the driving. I figured it was only fair, as she did help to build the car in the first place.

No - went back to the factory SOR and ended up going to a guy from the Leeds area I think.

I always figured that because we had built it the first time, we could rebuild it if anything unfortunate happened to it. Have to say though that it took everything we could throw at it around Knockhill and never complained, except for a couple of throttle cables.....
