i reckon you should give elliot, or one of the other specialists a call and get a pleasant surprise in terms of what the real workd and not the local stealership charge!!
as for warranty/getting it done by audi - most specialisty will garantee their work anyway and when it comes to getting work done, the specialists are held in just as high regard when it comes to re-sale as the stealerships are.
to give you an example, my turbo went in the 2.0TDI i have - Audi wanted 1200 quid for a service exchange turbo (so not even a new one) and an additional stupid amount to fit it,
i went to turbo solutions down south for EXACTLY THE SAME service exchange turbo and they sold me it for 350 quid with a garantee, i then had elliot walker fit it (along with a few other bits and bobs) for around 400 quid
car is still running like new 20k later, no issues since (apart from and unrelated airflow sensor)
