Hotel Suggestion for this weekend
Re: Hotel Suggestion for this weekend
Theres a really great hotel with a fantastic restaurant and the scenery when you wake in the morning is breathtaking. Its about half hour north of callander which is north of stirling if you take the east coast route (stirling to fort william road). Its near Rob Roys grave (i think) and is in the middle of a glen/lake setting.

It might not be the cheapest but I guarantee your new miss's will appreciate the effort in finding it, food really is top drawer and the hotel mixes traditional decor with modern rooms.

Blythswood square hotel in Glasgow is very nice and will give you a last minute deal if you ask. Very luxurious and superb cocktail bar. Also ticks the car box as it used to be the Royal Scottish Automobile Club and they have a rally bar
I also used to work in a Castle near Loch Lomond ish (20mins away), Culcreuch Castle Hotel Fintry, again they would do you a deal if there was a room bu often booked out at weekends due to weddings, not mega glamour like Cameron house but much cheaper and Dom got married there

Duck bay marina on the banks of loch lomand, only been in there for food as we used to stay in the Youth hostel across the road (The youth hostel is a stunning castle and was about £12 a night with breakfast)

Another vote for the Monachyle Mor. By some margin the best hotel I have ever stayed in. Everything - food, location, rooms, service - are all absolutely top drawer.

They've extended the hotel, built a pool and spa facilities, changed the internal layout for restaurant and built some lodges in the past few years.jasonliddell wrote:Been there several times and would happily recommendJTBush wrote:No room at Broomhall
Anyone been here. Looks nice and its on route
http://www.hollytreehotel.co.uk/- though most recent stay was Nov 2007 and I think they've done a lot of work since then.
I've not stayed there either since the work has been done, but it's still the same owners so the standard should be as good as before.

Will definately book there. Looks really nice, plus its close to where we are staying at Glendale.
Re: Hotel Suggestion for this weekend
Hollytree was fantastic. We had a large room with a Loch room and the view when I opened the curtain in the morning was amazing. Im pretty sure the couple walking back along the pier towards the hotel didnt think that when they suddenly saw a curtain drawn back and a naked man stood at the window.
Food was really nice and staff were exceptional. Can definately recommend a stay.
We didnt get chance to go to School House at Dunvegan. This was mainly due to it being shut, along with pretty much everything else on Skye.
Three Chimneys was rather disapointing. Food was good, service was excellent and location was breathtaking, but for the sort of money I was asked to part with for the meal, it wasnt any more special compared to other places Ive been which have cost a fraction.

Very enlightening review on 3 Chimneys.
