And to confirm from an ex-MMC perspective - Ali's a great tech (he got me out of the sh.t with hundreds of Lotii for many years) and his recent problems would seem to solely be down to paperwork and the fact he's only one man - and having done the one-man-band thing for many years, I can confirm that one man can only do so much!

Ali will soon have some news for you, but rest assured he is taking all these comments very seriously, and is going to really step up his game in 2011. This thread has been really useful for him in getting an understanding of what his customers want, where he has been doing well, and where he hasnt.

There have been a few things to get sorted, which he's been working towards since this thread started last year.

Hopefully by the end of the month you'll get an understanding of his vision for the future of SLS.

You will all be pleasantly suprised, and I think the business you know now as SLS and the new version will be virtually unrecognisable.

Anyway, not going to steal anymore of his thunder.

Just to clarify, i'm only acting as an advisor in this new venture, when and if required. Hopefully the only time I'll hear from him is when my car is ready for collection

But to be honest my dealings have been excellent, car ready when its meant to be, at a great price. I would recommend ali to my friends as he hasn't gave me any cause for concern

That's good news Andy. I wish Ali every success - it is after all a fairly specialist service and how busy he is despite the complaints is testament to the good standard of work he does mechanically. If that is backed up with appropriate paperwork there is no reason he shouldn't do well.

Ali is definitely no bum rapist when it comes to labour rates but I have yet to have a paper invoice from him during the last 3 years. No doubting his spannering skills but his admin skills could do with a brush up

I only have praise for Ali, when i had my S1 he done a few jobs for me including servicing and repairs and i found him a great guy to deal with. If i didnt get him first time on the phone i called later and got him then and collected the car with no issues or delays. He went out his way for me a few times, and im grateful for that. His prices are execellent and i like the fact i know i can trust him not to rip me off. When i get another Lotus i will go back to Ali without hesitiation as he is a top bloke
