Service Options

Post by m1key » Tue Feb 08, 2011 11:49 pm

Hi guys,

My Elise is due for a service & MOT soon and I'm debating whether to use Murray or SLS. I used Murray last time and they were fine (bought my car from Graeme) but seems like both places have undergone a number of changes.

What are peoples thoughts/recommendations?

Thanks,
Mike.

Before making up your mind, speak to Falkland Performance in Glenrothes, Formula 1 in Newcastle, and our Dan Jude of SPS in Newcastle.

Oh, and sit tight for the SLS relaunch if you can!

:withstupid

shop around, although I don't think Graeme's departure has affected servicing (could be wrong)
Another option could be dreadnought? http://www.dreadnoughtscotland.co.uk/home.html

Ive only used Murrays, Dan@SPS and Ali@SLS before so cannot vouch for the others

Lots of options, but the service arrangement hasn't changed a jot at Murrays - I was having a good chinwag with Craig only this Monday and he's still doing the business. Tales of the Lotus demise are rather overblown - they've just taken Graeme's departure as a catalyst to shake it up a little. Talked to the new guy Brandon as well - still feeling his way in, but he's got bags of enthusiasm and seems a nice bloke.

Keenly awaiting the news of the new SLS premises opening so I can go and have a snoop too

Hey Shug,

You seem to have a lot of dealings with MMC*....sooo, when are you trading in that old S1 for a new version?

*Or are you on the MMC and SLS backhanders? :D

No

I know Craig and we've become mates - plus Elaine uses them for her car. That means he calls me if there's something going on he wants to promote on the forum - much the same as when Graeme was there, and I stick it up as it's of interest to the membership. Since he took over service, it's a changed place and somewhere I'm happy spending my coin - which would never have been the case under Bill. I think it's great we have a main dealer that actually does the work and provides service - amazing how many don't...

Don't see anyone else accused of taking backhanders when putting forward personal views or conveying info. You on a backhander with Falkland? Didn't think so...

And, no, I'm not trading in my shed any time soon.

:cheers

PS - WRT SLS, not sure where that's coming from as I've not commented on an SLS thread in at least a year (barring congratulating Mark) I've had no personal experience of anyone else, so I don't talk about them?

Gareth in conspiracy theory shocker :damnfunny

Try SLS - if you arent happy i will drive up there and club them for you :thumbsup (teasing)

On the new premises front, Mark has some stuff planned (even possibly an SE opening event!) and i saw the building work going on there! Its going to be properly unrecognisable from the old one.

The 340R was even there at the weekend ahead of its sale :D

On that point a massive thanks to Mark and Ali for moving it about in the pissing rain, (as i ran from meeting to meeting to collecting the buyer at the airport) getting the paint finally sorted/matched, and giving me somewhere to show the car in the deluge that was Edinburgh on Friday. Admitedly slightly biased, but they have gone out of their way.

From speaking to them it wont just be me that gets this level of service if things go as planned :thumbsup

Also thanks for replacing the brakes on the Rangie - invoiced same day :thumbsup

Keep it up chaps.

Kirk (ex mmc) might be able to do the work through another garage, worth speaking to on here. I got him to sort a bearing plus discs and pads and the price was spot on for someone who knows the elise as well.

I'm not intelligent enough to get any backhanders or brown envelopes.

They knocked 25% off my bill to mention the great, efficient service I received if I mentioned them on SE.....honest....
Do you think I could phone in to the AMP3 radio show and do a plug for them?

If you want, but WTF has that to do with Gadgets?

Should also add, as a point of fairness, I've had a great service with my cars from Dan in the past if you fancy a jolly south.

MMC - havent been since my 2nd ever MMC service, but Craig is a great bloke, and from chatting with others I know he's turned things round customer service wise.

Aye - so no stone is uncovered, Dan rescued my gearbox build and is a top lad. Forgot I'd used his services for the Elise.

Did I not tell you my clutch exploded?
I could offer the old one as a coffee table mosaic tile style.....actually, maybe I should be offering this to JJ.
