Going on a long jaunt? Try these

Post by Andy G » Mon Aug 14, 2006 11:49 am

When i decided to run the car in , and try to do it in one weekend, with the stage 2 exhaust, I didn't fancy having ringing in my ears.

I had to demo a new set of earphones this weekend, Shures new E500's, so used them, and they are awesome (so they should be at £420!). You can hear much from the exhaust, and make long range driving so much more relaxing. No windnoise, minimal exhaust noise, and the ability to listen to your music quietly.

The noise isolation of this range is superb, and ideal for travelling and cutting out background noise. I think Scotty may have a set for the 340r?

If anyone fancies trying a set for a long drive let me know and i'll lend you a demo set. The entry level model is the Shure E2C, starting at £59.

McKeanne, let me know if you want to borrow a set for Thursday

These are basically in-ear monitors, like wot rockstars use. Have played with a few sets thru work and have been using Shure kit for years (the universal SM58 stage mic - impervious to nuclear blast) Top quality kit. :thumbsup

Whack em into an ipod, or your phone (you got a W800i, haven't you)

That's what I do anytime I listen to music now - jacked my expensive CD player as it couldn't hack the dust and battering it got :(

Could have had a CR box with what it cost me for that head unit.... how one's priorities change!

Ah, but up at the microphone bit, there is a standard 3.5mm jack that you can hook any old headphones into. :thumbsup

Just unplug the headphones already in it.

I use "in the ear" noise cancelling earphones from phillips - costing the grand total of £25 from Comet! - they work an absolute TREAT with the roof on or off!
