I seriously considered buying that car, but wanted a car for road and track so bought the SLR.

Enjoy, and see you at the sprints/hillclimbs.

That's the chap, not sure which of the two pictures above are scarier :D
Recognised his photo from his site.
With a bit of luck he got some decent pictures of the car on Sunday.

After a great weekend at a SUNNY Doune I thought it was time for a Hoyabusa update and to say thank you.
Firstly a thank you to Fergus and Robin who came to the rescue and sorted out the Paddle Shift system that failed at the end of last year.

In my two years of competing at Doune there has never been a dry weekend. Forecast was excellent, wets were left at home and I set myself a target of getting down to a 46 something, previous best was 47.4.
Got down to a 46.6 on 2nd practice on Sunday and started to get greedy dreaming of a 45, finished up close on 46.09, hence the embarrassing head in hands as I go over the line.
Fergus arrived with his GoPro on Sunday and fitted it to the car, the link is below.
As always I had numerous people speak to me about Lawrence and the car, it is great to know that so many people still remember him with great fondness.

Work permitting I am intending to compete in all the rounds of the Scottish Hillclimb Championship, come and say hello.

I'd missed this thread in 2012. Fantastic to see Hoyabusa in action again. Brings back many memories, for many folk here :)

2014 Scottish Hillclimb Championship

Post by Arch » Fri Dec 26, 2014 6:19 pm

It's that time of year where the TV is full of reviews, here is a very short one of my year competing in the Hoyabusa.
This was my first year entered in the SHC, since getting the car I had done all the rounds at Doune in 2012 and 2013 so was starting to get to grips with the Stirlingshire hill, Forestburn and Fintray were a different matter, I had only competed at each of them on one previous occasion.
The Championship consists of 12 rounds , 4 from each venue with your best 8 to score, my car was running in class B4 which is usually filled with Caterham, Westfield, Fisher, Tiger and other 7 type cars, they don't have to be road legal and run on slicks, engine capacity is up to 1400cc with most powered by bike engines.
Along with the class awards there is a overall modified award that brings all the cars from the various modified classes together, this was my goal for the year.

All in all the year went way better than I could have hoped for, I did 10 rounds recording 8 wins and 2 runners up. (Lost out with a drying track at Fintray and a duff battery at the summer Doune)
This resulted in a class win for the year along with the Modified Championship. :D

Other than a few weight reduction measures and painting the nosecone the car is still pretty much the same as Lawrence built it.

Big thanks to Fergus for his continued support and for collecting my awards at the dinner.

Next year will hopefully be more of the same and a few trips down south to British events.

As always I could do with more power, however the lure of a S1 is becoming stronger, we shall see.

Wishing you all the best for the NewYear be it on the road or track.

Tried to get a decent photo of the awards on the bonnet of the car but they kept sliding off.
