Ceilidh band

Post by douglasgdmw » Thu May 03, 2012 8:07 am

My mate is getting married on 25th August and is looking for a ceilidh rock band for his wedding in the central belt area (or are wiling to travel).

If anyone has any recommendations (or are in a ceilidh rock band) then it would greatly appreciated

Cheers

We're using http://www.callanishmusic.com/ for our wedding. Not the cheapest but they are super professional and manage to be good at both contemporary and ceilidh at the same time.

They do regular sessions at their studios in Edinburgh if you want to go for a listen.
Focus ST estate, i3s and more pushbikes than strictly necessary.

....did i ever tell you about the Evora and VX220 i used to own?

There is a band which I think would be perfect, but I can't remember their name!! Iv texted my friend for the name, but they do ceilidh and fuse rock and recent chart songs into the song so you'll be doing a dashing white sargeant to the prodigy!! It's awesome! Will post up the name when I find out. They've played at loads of high profile events as well, like the Edinburgh Hogmanay party. :thumbsup

If you're looking for something a wee bit different then you could try The McDonald Brothers. The boys that came 3rd on X Factor the year Leona Lewis won.

They do a great mix of traditional ceilidh music and wedding favourites and they are a similar price to most other bands.

PM me if it's of interest.

Prestwick's premier celebs? They cancelled a friend's wedding for an X factor round.

The wedding I was at last month had an excellent Ceilidh band with guitarist, if I can fine out btheir name again, will post it up.

Guys,

I'm the groom's best man and am completely bowled over by the great response from you all ... fantastic :D

I've just found out that I've been entrusted with the task of selecting the band, so I certainly have a target-rich collection to choose from now.

Many thanks to you all and to George for kicking off this thread. Great idea !!

Cheers
Calum
