22B was the one to go for, P1 values are weak - something that surprised me, so perhaps they are the ones to get into now.
Agree on 22B. Colin Tinto might have a thing or two to add here ;-)

That was my point about P1. Values seem low now (from the scary £35k original price tag!) but I have a hunch they have flattened out. I watch them occasionally ;-) Had I the disposable to run a P1, I may well have taken the plunge now. I always LOVED Cameron Leask's, I was lucky enough to get to drive it from time to time and it had an Elise-like delicacy and directness which surprised me. However Mark Lyon (Dark on here) has held onto an early bugeye STI UK and we tend to forget that non-alu cars start to rot big time, and there are big bills in there...

Isn't it fun to daydream.

Porsche 964's are still pretty low although they have increased slightly in price over the years. Obviously the 993 will always hold a higher value (as last of air cooled) but I reckon a nice unmolested C2 will eventually increase in value as lots of people are making C2's into an RS equivalent.

Always been bandied around that the 964 is the under valued Porsche so hoping that they eventually increase in price once people eventually cotton on. Your not going to make a mint on them admittedly.

Ferrari GTO obviously http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-06-0 ... llion.html :D

I've never thought of cars as an investment, but the S1 Exige is a lucky buy.

Assuming you wish to drive the car, I think just looking for something that will not depriciate should be the main objective, and also consider something that will always be in demand. So I'd rule out anything ugly or in the wrong colour or spec.

From my limited knowledge of the Porsche market, the price range is vast even for the same model. Condition becomes all important. So the old Carrera model can range from £10k to £35k, purely dependent upon condition, refurbs etc. Certain models are less desireable and will always remain so IMHO, so if it's cheap today, it'll probably be cheap in the future.

At the end of the day I'd buy it because I wanted it, at least then your not too disappointed if it costs a bit to run.

My money would be on an Escort RS Cosworth. Just you wait :blackeye

The best buy as an investment would be Tommi Mak RS. Same spec as my car but only made around 150 worldwide.
There are rarer versios like the 6 RS Monte Carlo, only made 12. and a couple have been stolen and never recovered, only ever seen 1 come up for sale in the last 5 years.

I just realised how much of an evo anorak I am....

Which Classic would you invest in?

Starting to realise I've done well with some of my car choices...

22B, didn't lose an awful lot (although aforementioned clutch issues and an engine rebuild weren't cheap)

993 Turbo, really didn't cost much to run or lose much in value.

S2 111s - looking good so far.

All accidental...
