Lotus Europa S
By Andrew Frankel
Crashing head-on into an identity crisis

If you polled the public to discover Britain’s most revered marque, the chances are that Aston Martin, Rolls-Royce or Bentley would win. But if you polled the engineers who make such cars I’d bet a wedge of cash none of these would top the table. As Gordon Murray, designer of grand prix cars and the McLaren F1, once said to me: “Cut me and I’d bleed Lotus.â€

:( doesnt look like its going to compete very well in the market that its aimed at. Its guaranteed to be a hit with some but perhaps they should change tack and get the s3 Elise/exige into production!

I agree with most of what he said.

It's gotta be dissapointing after an Exige S :)

I agree it's quieter
I agree it's easier to get in and out
I agree it looks different, he'd have complained if it wasn't
I agree it's a turbo and I have 3 turbos currently and know how to drive them :)
and I agree it's not raw enough, so just what I want

and I wouldn't be seen dead in a Boxster ;)

pity for Lotus that there's only one of me, maybe just as well tho' :)

I've got a feeling that writer may have slagged off the Elises/Exiges when they came out too, despite him saying they were 'better'. Yea 'better' in the ways we already knew. It's a different knd of car.
Lotus want to give the Boxter buyers another option, and I think they just might have done it!

I would *never* buy a boxster. I'd definitely go for the Europa if that was the kind of car I was after.

Car reviews are like music reviews to me . . . I wouldn't let a bad review of my favourite band's new album stop me buying it, so I wouldn't let a bad review of a car stop me either! I'd go find out for myself! :D
