 Bit of a shock mate especially as your firm have managed to trade in a reduced form over the last few years.

As you say they've kept you on throughout so you've been a valued engineer to your old bosses :thumbsup

It's old cliche time and as one door closes another opens :D

Lot's of opportunities out there despite the doom & gloom, oil and gas/renewables definitely on growth mode at the mo

Aberdeen not so bad, good route to run along the beach promenade, and you can enjoy an ice cream on the way back

Good luck and all the best with the job hunting :thumbsup

Knackered this morning, think I was job hunting for about 14 hours yesterday. Being unemployed is hard work, going to take it a bit easier today.

Definitely looking towards a switch to Aberdeen. Just need to see what comes up.

Hi Kenny,
If you want to send me your CV I have a mate in our Glasgow office with agency contacts (unfortunately he's only looking for subsea experience right now). I can also put you on the list for my company here in Aberdeen (I get a bounty if you take a job!).

Cheers,
Ali

Really sorry to hear that mate. At least it was not completely out of the blue and you had a bit of time to prepare for it. I am sure it still was a horrible shock though.

All the best with the job hunting :thumbsup

True, this happened to me. Took a bit of risk a few years back and in the end all worked out very well! Many times i've heard people go onto better things after redundancy.

Well it didn't take very long, back in employment (well sort of, I start soon) Thanks to all on SE who have offered advice and help over the last few days.

And massive thanks to Stuart at Red Quartet, cheers! I think I owe you a half pint of shandy.

Where will you be based? Will be sad to loose you from Glasgow..... I'll need to find someone else to watch the F1 with now! (assuming you may be moving from Glasgow?)
