Stop Gap Lotus
Stop Gap Lotus
Hi George
I've been mulling over selling my 59 plate SC, so you're post was a bit of a prompt. Since the other half had a baby in April, the car has barely moved - which is more painful than selling it for something a bit more useable until such time that the wee fella can go in an Elise!
I was going to put a post in the Classifieds, but have been putting it off. It's silver with black alloys and diffuser, a/c, traction control and MMC fitted stage 3 exhaust and air filter.
If you're interested or want more details, give me a shout.
Cheers
Mark

Re: Stop Gap Lotus
I think the SC would be a good choice, and if the V6 comes in around summer 2013 then happy days.
From speaking to you on the weekend I don't get the feeling you would release your build slot at the moment.
Poor that Lotus are not keeping it customers up to date. Not the PR they will be wanting, and within their arena to sort out....poor show.

Re: Stop Gap Lotus
Guys,
Thanks for all the kind pm's and notifications of your cars for sale. Could have had a showroom to rival MMC if the Euromillions came in last night.
Had a chat with JCT about their S1 Exige so popping down to see it tomorrow. Any S1 Exige advice would be appreciated as been a long time since I have had a look at one.

Re: Stop Gap Lotus
Had a very entertaining trip down to JCT600 in Leed's yesterday. Up at 06:15 on a Sunday morning
, quite motorways meant that we arrived in Leeds just after JCT opened their doors.
The car looked absolutely stunning in Blue and there were a couple of stonechips on the car but was in pretty good condition for 11 years although he did mention that it has had the front clam done (nothing to worry about though). Minors were a little bit less paperwork at the very early years that I would have wanted to see in a "collectors" car and the usual Koni snooker ball noise over the bumps (which brought back memories of our S1
).
Unfortunately we realised that an S1 Exige is probably not for us. The car needs to be driven at the high revs and treated like a race car most of the time to get the best out of it. Not something that I normally mind but Sandra does not necessarily want to go into "race" mode every time she's in the car.
We also had a shot in the S2 Exige they had (Exige S 220 which was owned by a girl in Glasgow) and it ticked all the boxes for Sandra. Unfortunately it did not pull my heart strings and the price was not competitive enough from a resale in March perspective.
So we are still Lotus's less and just hoping that Lotus get their act together to get the V6 Exige out.
Still don't know which way to go though and have some more thinking to do

I have nothing to add to this thread other than I think your Elise is one of the best I have ever seen Dave!Rag_It wrote:As of today I have a lovely 10 plate S2.5 Elise SC with 13k on the clock for sale.... Needing to sell for the Orange S sat at MMC!
Re: Stop Gap Lotus
Why thank you sir! I am in love with it indeed, did 200 miles round by Applecross, Torridon, up to Gairloch and then onto Ullapool, what a drive, never have I grinned so much, even with slightly damp roads and rears that have seen better days, the SC just made me continuously smile.StiflerMR2 wrote:I have nothing to add to this thread other than I think your Elise is one of the best I have ever seen Dave!Rag_It wrote:As of today I have a lovely 10 plate S2.5 Elise SC with 13k on the clock for sale.... Stage 3 + TRD filter could be heard for miles up here, helped get the local walkers onto the Grass verges in time!
There is a nice 58plate black SC in MMC which coming into Nov, I am sure you could negotiate on!

Thanks for the info, had a shot in Brandon's Elise S on Saturday and must admit I enjoyed it more then the Exige I drove. I think the extra torque helped on the new supercharger (or maybe the wider track in the Exige means you have to lean on it more).
To be honest the only real concern I have in getting an Elise SC is that there are a few currently for sale/coming up for sale. Which means we may not be able to turn it around quickly in March if the V6 Exige gets delivered then.

Re: Stop Gap Lotus
If you want depreciation proof until, March, George, then I think all that's left is another S1. Fd's would hit the spot in fact. But buying an S1 for winter is borderline insane
However you may already have ruled out S1s. I kinda got lost reading your thread, so spoiled for choice are you
Sandra's draw for an S2 Exige could come close, mind you, if you choose wisely. What other "boxes" would need ticked for you there, out of interest?
TBH, in your shoes, I'd stay Lotusless for winter and find something else "depreciation-proof" which is more winter-friendly.
