I concur! I went to see chris today and took the car for a lengthy test drive. He knowed his stuff and put up with my many and sometimes mildly retarded questions. It seems to be an honest wee car with s2 bilsteins, new t1rs, freshly refurbed wheels, uprated alloy radiator, sport exhaust, fsh and generally quite tidy paintwork. Also just had head gasket done and head pressure tested and all well. Drove well too and I think with the B&c changes it was around 130-135 bhp if i remember right. To be honest i'm very tempted so will sleep on it and make a decision in the morning.

Cheers,

A white s1 was mentioned but I think it was in the garage getting checked over or something like that. He had a nice orange s1 and green 111s there too but they were too nice to hillclimb. Especially with the history linked with the orange one.

This has to be worth a look, if it's not gone already...

FWIW I was planning to sell my S1 in the Spring, but could sell early . . . however I'm in no hurry to sell . . . it's not going to depreciate . . .

Image

2000W, Ninety Somthing K miles (need to check). Titanium. Currently SORNed and has been for about 3 years

Brand new standard short block at ~80K miles from PTP, PTP 165 conversion with lightened flywheel and new clutch when the engine was changed, Janspeed 4-2-1 with replaceable flexi, Tubular silencer (large one), sport cat and MOT cat (it will pass on the sport cat but it needs to be red hot, MOT cat makes it a non issue).

Revs lovely, IIRC the PTP 165 I have is based on the VHPD head with tamer cams . . . runs a plenum and custom ECU . . .

Engine was changed as the old block was worn out and using oil, this engine and the last have never had a temp issue or HGF, coolant temp is rock steady, all the time, always has been ;-)

Bodywork is good apart from some minor damage to the underneath of the front clam and the usual collection of stonechips.

No MOT but the car was MOT'd just prior to being laid up, I expect it'll pass an MOT out of the box.

Interior has the usual wear and tear. Willans Silverstone 4 pt harnesses, no seatbelts.

Muts Nuts disks, RS4-2 pads (still the best IMHO), T1R rubber, probably less than 1/3rd worn.

Everything works, no niggles, no rattles, starts on the button, it's not been a polishers car, it's been driven all over the UK and europe a number of times and has been a completely reliable joy to own, selling it as I don't use it now and would rather have more garage space for the single seater ;-)

I'm the only owner since new, I have maintained the car since new, I know these cars backwards.

Like all Elises, for sprints and hillclimbs, a CR box would be a must have . . . this car doesn't have one . . .

If interested drop me a PM, I am busy with work and don't have a value in mind as I haven't researched it . . . yet . . . so a reply may take a few days . . .

Personally I'd buy a Caterham or Westie and put a supercharged busa in it and run it in the B/C classes on slicks rather than an Elise or even better a wee single seater (which would be faster and cheaper than any of the above) . . . but I guess you have your reasons ;-)

Here's a wee single seater . . . first dry run up Doune :

Wow those are a couple of nice machines. :thumbsup In the end I decided to go for the B&C super 140, even after looking at a sport 135 the next day! Tbh the 135 was completely restored and quite highly priced £12750k, plus it was on konis (which will need replaced adding at least 1k) and I would almost feel bad hillclimbing such a tidy car. I got the B&C price down quite significantly and it has plenty potential for development as I get used to the car. I think that is what swayed my decision really, I was looking for something that I could make some subtle changes too, have fun doing it and gain an appreciation for what makes the car better to drive. It has the basics done and ticks all the boxes, the only thing is that I know Dom won't appreciate the colour! I don't think racing green is that bad! Maybe I'll add some orange cow prints too! :thumbsup

Nice run, I think the fastest I could get the mx5 up was in 56 seconds ish, hopefully the elise should sort that out. I love Doune and the shakes you get once reaching the top!

Congrats on the new car!! Well done!! Good choice,... and I don't mind the colour, was just saying it's not my first choice (neither is silver (or almost silver like mine))

Sorry I did not call you back yesterday - sounds like you don't need the call back now!

Do you have it already? / when do you get it?

No worries, you've already given me lots of help anyway! The combination of advice from you and Smee helped make the process a lot less confusing! Aiming to pick it up on 10th nov and promptly go for a run up around the campsies! :P He has bought my mazda as a race car project for his son so will trailer that down and give the elise a lift back north.

Just about to place some orders with elise parts, now the addiction starts! Workied out I only need the removable steering wheel adapter with a 40mm extension to free my right leg.

Need to find out when the next track day is on too... :D

Hey Murray. Congrats on the new purchase. I'm sure you'll have lots of fun in it. Maybe catch you at Doune or Kames sometime.
Cheers,

Tried to send you a PM regarding this but I think you have the PM function disabled.

PM sits in your outbox until it's read. Very possible Fd hasn't been on in a few days.

Thanks but it says the user won't accept PM's and also under his username it doesn't have the PM or email symbol that most people have.

Weird, does for me - but perhaps due to me being an Admin. He'll likely pop back on and see this soon enough.
