Octavias

Post by smee » Tue Feb 19, 2013 11:42 pm

Been told I need a new car before April which is bad timing.
New Octavia out March but no estate till summer. Some cracking deals on what will become quite dated VRSs ground clearance might not be enough for me. Scout is a bit meh...
Might be able to get a Legacy but would be low spec, not as pretty as the last model and also due for replacement soon.

Don't know what to do, would rather keep the current Slowda.

Legacy. Sod the toys, it's got a boxer engine and the best AWD system in existence. :thumbsup

Have to say, I agree with the tall man. With what you do, surely a Legacy is a no-brainer. WGAF about toys when it'll constantly stink of cow sh*t? Plenty of farmer-kudos too - dare say you'll get stories of old scooby pickups that refused to die...

John - Countryman? Really? No chance hateful hateful thing.
Didn't consider the Yeti but dont want something that looks like a 4x4 and need a massive boot.
Graeme and Shug - Legacy would have been a no brainer BUT not the car it once was, loved the old one strugling to get excited about the current one. Used to have one of those pickups. When the body rusted away we used the chassis as a crazy buggy.Going to have a look at the legacy though this weekend. Still good bit dearer than Octavia and company car tax will be more.
Octavia blackline looks very cool but will age dramatically.

See how this has stealthily become another which car tjread!!

New Octavia estate not out till June and need to swap before end of tax year in April :-(

Popped into Subaru at lunch time as I have no patience.
Take it all back, looks have grown on me and interior is nice. Test driving a couple next week.
Forester is a good bit cheaper and probably more practical but a bit too mini suv, preferred the last model (again!).

At the end of the day a big part of the decision will come down to cost and unless I can get a blinding deal on the Legacy it will be about 5k more.

Thanks for the input guys

Fair bit more expensive than the Skoda but thought about the plusher version:

I've borrowed my inlaws Legacy boxer diesel from time to time and it's a great motor.
